Is Pouncey still at risk for suspension from bullygate?

Yep, they said Pouncey needs to undergo an evaluation based off of what Goodell said during a presser at the annual owners meeting. But There still has been no official word given to Pouncey, Jerry, or the Dolphins requiring Pouncey to undergo an evaluation. All we have seen is the media reiterate what Goodell said during a presser. I still doubt that Pouncey and Jerry were told that they needed to be evaluated. Jerry has denied it already.

In his mind — for what that's worth — Pouncey doesn't need to undergo the mental health evaluation the NFL says is a requirement for him to play this season: “I don’t think I need that. I don’t think I do.”

Believe what you want, but there are plenty of articles confirming the NFL has told him enforce he plays he has to undergo a eval and I am pretty sure Philbin confirmed it.

I don't think the NFL has the authority to force him to do the evaluation and if they try the union could fight it. They do still have the option to punish him for "bully-gate" however so they can effectively force him to do the evaluation, unless he's dumb enough to take the punishment instead as a matter of principle.

well no doubt he is very dumb

They absolutely can force the evaluation the same as the Dolphins forced Don Jones and both articles I posted claim the NFLPA agreed to it. Let's be honest with everything that went down a evaluation is a nonevent for Poincey he should do it and move on!

It wouldn't be the same because the Dolphins can force Don Jones to do whatever they want or they can just cut him. They NFL can't punish players for no reason and as far as the NFLPA is concerned forcing Pouncey to do a psych evaluation would be the equivalent of forcing him to do a geometry test. In theory anyway, you say they agreed to it but I don't know why they would when they are supposed to be representing the player, Pouncey.

I agree though, he should just man up and get it over with.

Dolphins can cut him and NFL can say "if you want to participate in our league you have to be evaluated". It really is no different then a first time failed drug test and the offender ordered into the program. More accurately those that are in the level one substance program.

The articles you have linked do not confirmed that the NFL has ordered Pouncey or Jerry to undergo a psychological evaluation. There is nothing in there that confirms that. Every article you keep linking just reiterates what Goodell said during a press conference at the owners meeting - it was nice rhetoric and a great PR move, but nothing came of it. Do you really think the team would just allow Pouncey to blow off an order from the commissioner that could jeopardize his ability to play in the NFL? Do you think John Jerry was lying when he denied just 2 weeks ago that he hasn't been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation?

It is different because the NFL Player's Association already agreed to the drug testing policy, drug programs, and subsequent punishment during the CBA negotiations. The drug program isnt an order from Goodell, it was an agreement between the owners and the NFLPA, with Goodell enforcing the policy as an administrator. The NFLPA absolutely does have a say in the NFL's insistence of its players being psychologically evaluated. In fact, if you had even listened to the source of all the nonsense - Goodell's press conference back in March - you would know that he mentioned working with the NFLPA on this issue.

Ok I'm done trying to explain it to you! You have a long documented history around here of refusing to accept the obvious because you dawn teal and orange colored glasses. Both articles clearly state he was ordered into counseling before he can resume playing, reporters have been asking Pouncey since mini camp, and the organization addressed this when the Wells Report was released. Lastly the articles clearly state the NFLPA agreed to the conditions. Why? Because frankly they hand no choice! Given the magnitude of the situation and the bad publicity to the organization and league. Simply telling those involved to be evaluated before they play again is a sweetheart deal. As a former union rep myself I can guarantee there is always a cause that can be exercised for a organization to impose it's will. A CBA is not the end all be all, and even though a union is legally bound to represent all members aggressively and equally it doesn't mean foolishly. This was a defining moment for Pouncey! He had a opportunity to grow up, un**** himself, and prove to teammates/coaches/owners/fans that he made a bad decision he learned from it and will be a better person and player for it. Instead he decides to make jokes embarrassing the team on draft day, find himself once again in a ridiculous situation surrounding his birthday party, and ignore the leagues order.

You dont seem to understand the source of the information. When these beat reporters are saying the the NFL wants Pouncey, Jerry, and Incognito to undergo psychological evaluation, the source of that information is Roger Goodell's press conference at the owner's meeting in March. You really should read the source of information before you fly off the handle like that. Here is the transcript of the only time when the NFL has addressed the issue you are talking about:

http://nflcommunications.com/2014/0...nnual-meeting-press-conference-march-26-2014/

Now, reading that transcript, you will notice that Goodell doesn't even mention "psychological evaluation" once. He refers to them as "medical evaluations". He also only says 3 sentences about the issue of the bullygate participants. Now if you cant read between the lines here, then this really isn't worth discussing with you. He never said he ordered them to do anything.

Its pretty much semantics. I don't believe the NFL has the right to directly order them to do the evaluation so Goodell is trying to find wording to suggest, as strongly as possible, they do the eval without getting himself in trouble with the union "we don't want to make a decision on punishment until the evaluation is done." This is a choice, either do the evaluation as punishment, or suspension is on the table as punishment.

I think Pouncey and Jerry understand this and they are purposely being aloof when the say they weren't "ordered" to do the evaluation.

You mean like this?

On if he wouldn’t make a decision on suspensions of the three Dolphins players until after the medical determinations:

The medical evaluations are the priority, yes.

From our standpoint, the medical evaluations will determine what happens. There will be no determinations until we have that information.

You can call it a Peter Pan Evaluation for all I care! The commish has said in your own article he is not committing to anything until they are evaluated. He then went on to say the evaluation is a priority and needs done. Your own link puts it in black and white.

On the flip side Pouncey has said he isn't doing it and doesn't need it. His surgery magically bought him more time before patience wore thin. I'm sure what will happen is sometime in the future it will be reported all players have been evaluated and cleared to play. In the mean time Pouncey is to ignorant to realize he simply has to check on box and be done with it.

They can order the eval it is their league and being part is a privilege not a right. No different then a employer ordering sensitivity training, or better yet anger management training. Considering the spot light this report was under what is being ask of those involved is nothing. This is most probably a behind the scenes deal between the league, agents, lawyers, and the NFLPA along the lines of hey lets do this it shows we acted found they are nothing more then immature idiots and move on. I have seen it as a rep you work a wink wink deal and the defendant is to foolish to take it.
