It was Philbin's folly — but it's time for Tannehill to produce - (Hyde)

As bad as the last two weeks were, I think we have a legit shot to be 3-2. The question is whether or not Joe Philbin can somehow find a way to keep momentum rolling for once in his tenure.

Agree, and this is all speculation on "what if's." Wish there was no reason for it but, the team's play, across the board, has brought it on.

Dennis Allen is worse, and you're most likely going to see why tomorrow.

Dennis Allen has nothing to work with from a talent standpoint. The Raiders skill position players are horrible. Their free agent moves were brutal. If Philbin coached the Raiders, they would be worse.

I think Tannehill will fold from this pressure. He doesn't do good in games we are supposed to win.

Well, if we're ever trying to get to the Super Bowl, I'd say that's a pretty big flaw to have, lol.

I think he comes out with some fire in his gut. Fins need to do more than just win the game, they need to score big and make the offense come alive, only way he proves to everyone that he's doing his job on Sunday.

According to football outsiders DVOA Miami is:
4th at running the ball
9th at stopping the run
14th at stopping the pass
25th at passing the ball

Many theorize that Ross forced Philbin to change offensive coordinators (I don't agree and believe it was a mutual decision, but thats neither here nor there). Many also seem to believe that it takes 6-8 games for a QB to adjust to a new system, which is public knowledge that Ross and everybody else understands (again, I don't agree with this theory but its probably debatable).

So if Ross forced Philbin to hire a new offensive coordinator knowing that could cause Tannehill to regress, and our passing game is the only area we've regressed in, then how would it make any logical sense to fire Philbin at this point? The logic doesn't add up.

As i said in another thread , its not Philbins fault , how can it be ? he isnt the one calling the plays , (Lazor) and he isnt the one throwing the ball either ,(Tannehill) but he is the one of Miami coaches that wants to win , and with the way the passing game has been going , who could blame him for thinking about replacing Tannehill who has looked awful at QB , IMO you guys put yourself in philbins shoes , and from last year to this year Tannehill looks like a diffrent QB ,AND IT WOULD CROSS MY MIND , to think about benching Tannehill (even if its for motovation for Tannehill) or not ,But the main Goal for the Team is WINNING ,even if its to bring Moore in or any other QB .

I'm sorry my friend, but I disagree. The Raiders don't have a great supporting cast, but James Jones and Darren McFadden are pretty dang good. My one takeaway from watching the Raiders so far this year (one and a half games, pretty much) is that we should have just traded that 2nd rounder for James Jones a couple of years ago when it was rumored we had the chance. Dude can play.

McFadden?? He is universally regarded as a huge bust. Can't stay healthy. The Raiders trusted him so much that they signed a washed-up Jones-Drew. As far as James Jones is concerned, he is a solid receiver. But he was a lot more solid when Aaron Rodgers was throwing him the ball. He hasn't made much of an impact yet for the Raiders. I don't even think he's starting (although he might tomorrow due to injuries). The Raiders offensive line is terrible. They let their best lineman leave (Veldheer). Etc., etc. The Raiders are a really bad team. I don't see any of this as a Dennis Allen-related deficiency.

On the other hand, the Dolphins have a pretty decent collection of potential Pro Bowl-quality players. Starks, Odrick, Vernon, Wake, Grimes on defense. Wallace, Clay, Pouncey, Albert on offense. The Dolphins do not have a talent problem at this point. They have a coaching problem and a QB problem. The two are related. I am completely convinced that if this exact Dolphins roster was coached by Andy Reid, Rex Ryan, Mike McCoy, Chip Kelly, Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, or Bruce Arians, it is a playoff team.

The raiders look better to me than they are getting credit for around here...

You keep telling yourself that. Seems like a way to reduce expectations for tomorrow.

Defense is a mash unit, offense has to show up and carry the team. If we can get up early and unleash our pass rushers I think we'll be fine. IMHO this game is all on the offense unless the Raiders somehow hang a 40 burger on us. My expectation is the offense should make up for what we are lacking in manpower on defense. If we lose say 24-10 It's all on the offense.

I think you're underrating Jones, and I hope you're right. At any rate, I agree on your second point. This is an 11-12 win team with Jim Harbaugh at the helm.

Still, the Raiders didn't look like a horrible football team against New England. They looked like a decent team with a rookie QB. The honest truth is, they should have taken that game to overtime. They had bad luck at the end of the game on a questionable holding call followed by an unlikely interception. Just saying.

Though two teams from our division have already beaten the Raiders, both were relatively close.

Jets 19
Raiders 14

Patriots 16
Raiders 9

It'll be interesting to see how we are able to handle them and if we can beat them by a larger point spread than 6 pt average of our division.
