It's time to cut Feeley

Can anyone imagine what the front page of this forum would look like if Feeley had gone 2/3 and Gus played EXACTLY like Feeley did? There might be 2 or 3 threads that weren't calling out the so-called Guskateers, suggesting Frerotte's head be reaquainted with that wall, and ranting at the runaway idiocy that anyone other than our A.J. and all that potential had been starter from day one.

I guess everyone here wanted GB to cut Farve last year when he threw 4 picks in that one game?! Don't get me wrong, AJ played HORRIBLE. He definitely does not deserve to start, but it was a bad game. Everyone has a bad day.

Dude, he had 5 'bad days' like this last season...he's a f*cking bum! That pick for a TD he threw last night looked identical to the ones he threw last year...unbelievable!

I think Couch is our best option at the moment for the long term. A draft pick next year will not reap rewards until at least 2007 season. Let Gus or Sage start this year, cut Feeley and sign Couch to a 1 year deal and let him learn the system on his own time (and strengthen his arm so he doesn't reinjure it). He'd be starting by mid season this year unless Sage or Gus get on a role. Next year we'd have the option to sign Couch to a long term deal by slapping a frachise tag on him (if he played well this year).

Let's get realistic here and stop pouring our homer hearts onto these posts.

Gus is going to start and be given a decently long leash to hang himself. I think he will be able to manage the game for the FINS and help us win some close games. No, he is not a great QB..but he will make less mistakes most likely.

AJ has done enough over the entire PS to keep the second spot (most likely). Sage has put a real push on AJ though and if Sage has shown a LOT more in practices than AJ...he might overcome and be the number 2 guy.

Saban will probably at least look at other options at QB and bring them in for looksies.

I agree that Feeley should be released. Not only is he not an NFL quarterback and has a horrible ****y attitude w/o being able to back it up, and does not work hard or practice well, and is just plain stupid with his decisions, he is a horrible albatross because he is a constant reminder if what we gave up for him. He just brings and creates so much negativitism.

He is no better than Hutchinson and the Bears dumped him.

Let AJ get on with his life as a has been and junior high gym teacher.

AJ had his chance to show last nite he was ready to start. I am not one that is saying AJ will never develop. But last nite there was pressure on him to earn the job, and he didnt respond. I just am not sold at this point that he handles pressure well.

Count me as one that doesn't believe we have a starting quarterback. We've got three back ups. Anyone that wants to annoint Sage the starter based on what he did in the final preseason game of the season, well, I won't say it.

At this point, we have no choice but to go with Gus and hope he doesn't hurt us along the way.

This is a football team that SEVERELY needs to use a high draft pick on a QB. When you don't take a single QB in the first three rounds of the draft for the last 22 years, this is the kind of situation you get into.

Well said

Whoever thinks this team has no shot at the playoffs this year, (Which is most of us) ........
can you tell me why you think we should start Gus please ???

If Gus starts in December and we only have a handful of wins... well then Linehan has convinced Coach Saban that Gus can take us to the promise land and bring us that "dynasty" in his late 30's.

my new nickname for our three quarterbacks is larry, mo and curly. I leave it up to you to figure out which is which

cut Feeley I agree but for who? we need 3 QBs on our roster unless we bring Couch in he won't be cut

OK guys he's learning a completely new system while competing against a guy who's been familiar with it for years. He's had maybe a full games worth of playtime this preseason. If every coach thought like you guys did..... Guys like Kurt Warner/Trent Green would have been looking for new day-jobs years ago. I'm positive that if they told AJ he was "the guy" Early on and gave him every snap necessary, we would be in a much better situation.

If anyone needs to be cut its Gus!!!

Hes 32 yrs old
He can't outperform AJ at all, and hes actually familiar with the playbook.

I'm still waiting for the moment in which we can fairly judge AJ. Until then.....
GET A CLUE YO!!!!

I swear, some people won't consider it a fair shot until AJ plays behind Dallas's dynasty o-line, with Emmitt Smith relieving Barry Sanders in the backfield, and Michael Irvin, Randy Moss, and TO to throw to. Enough already! He's had much more chance to prove himself than he deserves. Time to move on.

why cut one qb? why not cut two. We let one stay pickup two other unproven qbs and this way at least increase our odds of having one of them pan out. Let the 3 qbs draw straws to see who stays?

The above is not a serious suggestion

This guy must be a Bills/Pats/Jets fan in disguise. Only they would want to start AJ.
"Get a clue yo!!!!" sounds like Jersey to me...
