It's time to cut Feeley

I swear, some people won't consider it a fair shot until AJ plays behind Dallas's dynasty o-line, with Emmitt Smith relieving Barry Sanders in the backfield, and Michael Irvin, Randy Moss, and TO to throw to. Enough already! He's had much more chance to prove himself than he deserves. Time to move on.

He hasn't even had ONE start yet.
Didn't we all agree not to judge him by last years performance ??
Well I did. :D

The line was a joke, the head coach didn't even want AJ on the field. Our Coordinator wasn't qualified for the job. Ricky even BAILED!!!
The reciever's didn't even have options to adjust when the QB needed to get rid of the ball. We all know the previous system relied on effective pass-blocking so the WRs could complete their routes. AJ was surrounded by a BIG Mess last year. Now with a supreme staff and passing scheme, he deserves a shot at redemption!

AJ deserves to be cut... He hasnt earned the job. Gus hasnt lit the field up.. but he makes less mistakes.. With out that INT we win that game 14-10.
Release AJ.. 1.1 against the cap.. Couch will play for nothing... He wants to prove he can play... Gus starts... Sage as a backup at #2... Couch learns.

anyone who thinks AJ deserves to be on this team is stoned or physically attracted to him. He is the epitomy of the Wannstache/Spielman era and needs to be given his walking papers. At this point we would be safer punting every down, at least we would have a chance to defend against the returns vs. AJ's Pick Six habbit. Those who think he deserves more time do not know this game. It results and excuses. Right now AJ is a weak excuse for a QB.

Count me as one that doesn't believe we have a starting quarterback. We've got three back ups. Anyone that wants to annoint Sage the starter based on what he did in the final preseason game of the season, well, I won't say it.

At this point, we have no choice but to go with Gus and hope he doesn't hurt us along the way.

This is a football team that SEVERELY needs to use a high draft pick on a QB. When you don't take a single QB in the first three rounds of the draft for the last 22 years, this is the kind of situation you get into.

Yeah we need to go get a qb thru the colleges rather than keep relying on other teams rejects.

I'd like to know AJ and Gus's salaries cuz i wonder if the contract difference is enough to merit cutting the guy whos 5 years younger and has the potential to be better.
Maybe AJ is losing the QB race right now, but Gus sure ain't winning it either.

I wouldn't cut him. He'll be a decent backup this season. After 5 preseason games, I guess you would hope that one of the QB's, "steps up," and plays consistent, but none of them really have. They have a good week followed by a horrible week, but I guess that's what the team gets by going with career backups. The guys can play well in a short period of time, but when they're on the field for more than one or two games, there weaknesses are exploited by good defensive coordinators, and they show that they are what they are, and that's backups. I'm not saying the team is going to tank the year, but there is a good chance that Matt Leinart is available when the Phins pick, I don't think there will be many teams in the market for a QB next offseason, and right now it's almost obvious that the Qb will be the downfall of the team, again.

Unfortuantely we probably missed out opportunity to trade for Kyle Orton after our game with the Bears, so now I say cut Feeley and Frerotte and sign Berlin and Couch.

AJ has no potential. If he did, he'd be starting somewhere by now. QBs generally don't emerge when they're about to hit 30. It takes them some time to adapt to the league, but not as long as it's taken AJ.

I thought the same way as you last season. I felt bad for him because the line was so bad and thought he took some beatings for the team. But I dont think its fair to say he didnt get a shot. He received more than a fair chance to prove himself this preseason. I could also see that if he did OK in the preseason that we would want to give him more of a chance. But the fact is the guy was horrid. He throws the ball at the ground. He doesnt look off safeties, he just stares at receivers. Have you played the new madden? It teaches you that you cant stare down a receiver. AJ should play and he might learn something.

BTW, where are you from at the jersey shore?

while he was horrible last night... i would also just like to acknowledge: he got exactly 3 plays with the first teamers last night... ... and that's 3 more than he got the previous two weeks...

I've always wanted AJ to make it, but the guy has always made me nervous. He telegraphs his passes, and doesn't seem to have the smarts or intangibles needed in a QB. I think I realized this in the Seattle game last year when he brought us back, then threw a pick 6 at the end. He also seems just too content, and has no fire, its likely why he's never really been a number 1 anywhere. Think we gotta suck it up, realize we blew a 2nd pick, and let him go. Kind of like Fiedler, will never take us to a SB, so time to cut ties and move on.

Amazing how emotions run to extreme after a game. :fire:

Look, if I thought Gus was the answer at QB I'd be fine with letting Feeley go and giving Berlin or Couch a shot at the #3 QB spot.

Gus made fewer mistakes than Feeley, but the guy hardly earned a starting role by what he did on the field. After 12 years, you know what Gus can do and he has long since had his best days as as player. Feeley, in contrast, is young enough that he is still learning from every game he plays in. I think he needs a couple games starting to get back into a groove.

If we lose with Gus or Feeley, does it really matter? Only in that Feeley would have most of another season to show improvement or final proof that he cannot be a #1 QB. For those of you who think AJ has ALREADY failed? Do you REALLY believe Gus is the answer? There is a mountain of evidence that says Gus isn't a starting caliber QB. Over a decade of evidence.

Compare that with a five game season Feeley had with the Eagles.

Compare that with the half season Feeley had with the Dolphins last year.

Compare that with the handful of preseason games he has played this year.

The jury is still out on Feeley. I think he could improve quite a bit over the course of starting a season.

Hey, at this point I understand guys even wanting Sage to start. The frustration is not having solid QB play that is going to kill the chances of a pretty talented team. :( Maybe Couch would be a good idea, he could know enough to be starting after the bye-week if brought in right now. Maybe he could be the next Drew Brees.

I wish I knew, better yet, I wish Saban knew.

And let's remember that he has been unable to win the starting job over essentially other backup qbs (Fiedler is a backup, Gus was, Sage is) playing behind the same line with all the same excuses. That's over 2 years, with 2 different coaching regimes, against multiple backups. The other team he was on had him at #3. Even if he could be marginally better than Gus (which is a big if) he's not the future. I say Gus starts, elevate Sage to #2, and AJ #3 for the year. It's too late for this year. Next year, draft our future QB.

if you minus the 7 that feeley gave to falcons and we win the game 17-13
