It's time to cut Feeley

And let's remember that he has been unable to win the starting job over essentially other backup qbs (Fiedler is a backup, Gus was, Sage is) playing behind the same line with all the same excuses. That's over 2 years, with 2 different coaching regimes, against multiple backups. The other team he was on had him at #3. Even if he could be marginally better than Gus (which is a big if) he's not the future. I say Gus starts, elevate Sage to #2, and AJ #3 for the year. It's too late for this year. Next year, draft our future QB.

Good point.

WE NEED A QB!!!! I've said it all along, until the office and staff wake up and draft a QB we are in for a long ride. As far as AJ, lose 1.1 or save 3 million. The fins would be crazy to keep him. See ya AJ.

Problem is we are just a little over $1 M left in cap space..can't be done...

For the love of God....I cannot believe that on this page alone we still have people saying "I think AJ needs more time/AJ has more of an upside/AJ would learn over the course of a season".

You people are probably the same one's who were sticking up for Fiedler's "potential" going into his 3rd year with us.

It looks like Feeley played himself out of a job.

Problem is, Gus performance is NOT any better than AJs...You guys need to look at the film again...Gus is HORRIBLE...as bad as Feeley...but, Feeley does have youth on his side...Sage couldn't beat out anyone we have had for the last 3 years...what makes you think he would be better as a backup than Feeley ?? He couldn't even beat out Feeley (using your logic)...Guys, we are in for a looong season with these two guys and there is very few options, if any...face it...

Noooooooooo!!

He just needs another 5-10 games...that count.....and he'll show how good he really can be! He's just messing around right now

<rant mode>Im so tired of hearin all the AJ supporters baby this kid, GET OVER IT he is NOTHING. The guy is flat out horrible i'd rather see GUS in there over throwing everyone and not completing passes than AJ who has race horse vision, and throws to someone thats not even looking at him. So lets just cut him right now, stick with gus/sage and limp along in the season with the running game. </rant mode>

How is Gus exponentially "HORRIBLE"??? I see a guy that can at least command a huddle, not prance around, control the flow of play, and not look like a deer in headlights. About the only problem I see with Gus is his accuracy.

AJ is inaccurate, can't stay healthy, can't command a huddle, can't control play, looks like a deer in headlights, gets flustered wy too easy, has no touch. I 100% do not see any one thing athletically AJ does better than Gus or Sage that warrants him being better in.

Can somebody punch Spielman in the mouth for me? I really hate to say it but I'm starting to miss Fiedler.

Fiedler was a better qb then aj would ever be. i agree we should cut feeley and use gus and sage this year and then go for a younger guy next offseason.

Although Frerotte hasn't faired much better, I believe he makes better decisions, and gives us a better chance to win. At this point, I would like to see Frerotte as our starter, and Rosenfels as the #2. If by chance, when he starts playing with the big boys, Rosenfels starts to show us more than Frerotte then let's move him in as our starter.
Steve

Yeah he makes a lot better decisions, throw the ball out of bounds and over everyones head on every play, so he can't throw a Int. Try and throw to a receiver and throw it so badly that it hits another receiver no where near him for his only TD pass of the preseason playing with the first team. IF These are what you call good decisions, then yes he makes better decisions, if you can live with 0 pts. from our passing offense then gus is a great QB for us, although giving him the benefit of the doubt he might get lucky and badly overthrows one of our receivers and accidently hits another then we might have a passing Score this year.....

Hell why even pay a guy to play QB, just have the punter in there, teach him how to hand the ball off and he can kick on third & long to catch the other team off guard, which would be more useful than letting Gus trying to hit a pass over 10 yards.

AJ is 30, not a young rookie.

I have not suggested starting Sage, that boat has sailed, although I would put him at #2. When you say he couldn't even beat out Feeley, I say roster's not set yet and Nick sounded like he was considering it, so he may have beaten him out. And yes, we are in for a long season with any of the 3.

I'd take 0 over -7 points, which is what Feeley consistently brings to the table. Nobody is expecting any of these QB's to do anything special offensively, but AJ is the biggest threat to hurt us.

AJ is at best no worse/better than Gus. The difference is we are paying AJ a LOT more money to suck than we are paying Gus. AJ is simply not worth paying $3.3 million to play that poorly. We can get Gus to do the same job for less money. Simple economics. It would be better to use that cap space on a more productive player than throw it away on a 3rd string caliber player.

Man - I sure am starting to miss Jay Fiedler and that is sad...:(

I can't disagree with the sentiment...I think Feeley should go now too. After watching him last night...man was he terrible.

Too bad it doesn't make financial sense to do it this year...

I'm not defending Gus's play entirely either, but he does manage the game better than Feeley. He also has more touch on the short throws, and play fakes better. Those things help your team. Sure, his long passes need work, but I believe that is a timing issue and might be resolved with more practice. What AJ has on Gus physically, he looses mentally. I'm really not thrilled about any of our guys. I've seen enough of AJ to call for his release, the jury is still out on Gus, and Sage shows decent ablility against scrubs and mop up duty, but hasn't gotten a fair shake. Why? There must be some reason that we don't know about. If not, then why not move him up to compete with Gus? Who knows, he may surprise. Lord knows, I wish someone would...
