Judging by many posts here...its no wonder why this team (and town) has experienced losing seasons for over 5 years. The expectations here are minimal. Seemingly many gum chewing fans are satisfied occupying the cellar of the AFC East and the NFL in general. Many have forgotten "why you play the game..." prolly due to Madden xbox intoxication.
Fins needs are so widespread that any other player position would have had more day 1 impact than making a "reach" at a RT that by most accounts could have been had in the 2nd round.
Who might share this opinion? Charley Casserly, who is far more knowledgeable than you says so. Many who know the business will concede this was a reach pick, made for reasons other than BPA as many of you have written here.
How do I know this kid cant block Wake? or any other NFL pass rush specialists? because he's never ever done so. So the evidence is with my rationale, not your kool aid drinken hysteria.
My Thread is closer to fact supported by well written documented scouting reports, broad league wide observation of this selection, and even the admission of many here who point to all the off field issues with the Fins OL last year.
The 58 sacks were a result of many failures across the entire OL, not just RT. The entire OL sucked. Tanny was responsible for sacks, RB's responsible, WR's not getting open, play calling, bad scheme/play design, all were contributors to 58 sacks, and one reach at #19 RT pick of a second tier talent wont fix any of it.
We can only hope Hickey has more balls than he displayed yesterday.
Lets move on children.
