James wont block Cam Wake, Mario Williams, Chandler Jones or Ninkovich, Coples, Pace

...yes, because Jake Long single handed won us games...because the fins have been perennial playoff contenders, and super bowl winners....so lets go ahead and reach for a pure RT, second tier talent, coulda been had in 2nd round...to fix everything that ails this team. Smart. Im sure you all are GM's at your night jobs.

The kid was not drafted to single handily win us games it takes a full team. Did you not watch our o-line play last year? He was needed period and the draft is far from over.

I just realized that I'm a complete ****ing hypocrite really for criticizing the decision not to move back and gamble that James would be there -- even though I really think he would have been.

Because I was probably the #1 person here curled up in the fetal position crying after watching the mashup of QB pressures from games 1-5 and screaming "Clabo! Clabo! CLABOOOOOOOOOO!" every time he just got blasted right back into the quarterback on a 3 step drop.

Your pot shots in your posts make you look like a spoiled child, crying for his ball.

Forgot to add this earlier...

Sorry, but this was a friggin reach and a pure NEED pick. Hickey wussed out and went Best RT available, not BPA or an impact player. He plugged a hole, and that doesnt change anything in the division standings or get you into the playoffs. Playmakers that change the game, impact the opposing team, makes them game plan for you ...that impacts your chance of making the friggin PLAYOFFS....which is what this is supposed to be about isnt it?

Hickey took the safe pick, didnt go for greatness.

Lets see if this is a pattern today and tomorrow.

Im disappointed but not shocked.

Well he is just astonished people disagree with him. Not liking a pick is one thing, but going overboard bashing the pick and people who are using logical methods to appreciate the pick is another.

I was completely astonished that someone was able to write a post where the thread title and the body of the OP had absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Judging by many posts here...its no wonder why this team (and town) has experienced losing seasons for over 5 years. The expectations here are minimal. Seemingly many gum chewing fans are satisfied occupying the cellar of the AFC East and the NFL in general. Many have forgotten "why you play the game..." prolly due to Madden xbox intoxication.

Fins needs are so widespread that any other player position would have had more day 1 impact than making a "reach" at a RT that by most accounts could have been had in the 2nd round.

Who might share this opinion? Charley Casserly, who is far more knowledgeable than you says so. Many who know the business will concede this was a reach pick, made for reasons other than BPA as many of you have written here.

How do I know this kid cant block Wake? or any other NFL pass rush specialists? because he's never ever done so. So the evidence is with my rationale, not your kool aid drinken hysteria.

My Thread is closer to fact supported by well written documented scouting reports, broad league wide observation of this selection, and even the admission of many here who point to all the off field issues with the Fins OL last year.

The 58 sacks were a result of many failures across the entire OL, not just RT. The entire OL sucked. Tanny was responsible for sacks, RB's responsible, WR's not getting open, play calling, bad scheme/play design, all were contributors to 58 sacks, and one reach at #19 RT pick of a second tier talent wont fix any of it.

We can only hope Hickey has more balls than he displayed yesterday.

Lets move on children.

Continue with your condescending attitude towards other posters, rookie ... And you'll find your time here short.

Children??? Who are you? For all we know you're a 12-year-old playing hookey from school, hanging out on your mom's computer.

Keep it civil.

This site would be so much better if posters could conceptually speak/think. Not once in the body of the thread does it mention what the title states which is Cam Wake, Mario Williams, Chandler Jones or Ninkovich, Coples or Pace.

I concur. I knew it was a thread bashing him but I was wondering the logic.

He won't block wake? Dang, I guess the phins are gonna lose every game they play against him...

Yeah, please tell us again how much the great Charley Casserly hated the pick. You know, the GM who had to have the Houston owner come in to intervene to fire the coach; the savant who never had a winning record with Houston, got kicked to the curb on his azz and then was rejected for a job with the NFL due to his ineptitude and has been roundly criticized for GM judgement.

Factually, we can either sight unseen take a part time GMs opinion over Casserley, or conversely, apply the "George Costanza Do-The-Opposite-Of-My-Instincts-To-Succeed" paradigm.. in which case, James becomes an excellent pick
