Jason Cole of Yahoo: No Doubt Miami takes Tannehill

You statement concerning Tannehill and being proficient in the Sherman's NFL offense, is completely absurd. I guess winning 4 games in the BIG 12 is something you consider proficient. Or losing leads in the 2nd half in 5 games, proficient. This game is about winning. Something he failed to do this past year, which led to Sherman and his proficient NFL offense to being fired.

This is the point that people continually ignore. Tannehill did NOT play that well against ranked teams, and his losses to teams like KState, Mizzou, OK, OSU, and Texas were a big reason Sherman got the axe. I can't see Sherman, who didn't even think Tannehill was good enough to be Jerrod Johnson's backup for two years, and didn't even start him at QB until midway through 2010, thinking that Tannehill is a likely NFL "franchise QB".

But, hey, if the Fins draft him, that's a better prospect left for the Bills -- and probably guarantees that the Fins don't get any production out of their first rounder any time soon.

It's going to be great to see Tannehill prove people wrong. If it happens in a Dolphins uni, even better.

No way should Moore or Garrard be put in the same class as Warner and Brees. Its night and day.

But at the time it was not. Eli was drafted number 1, do you think that the Giants were going to let him sit for years? No. Further, Warner at the time was considered on the downside of his career - he had been replaced in St. Louis. He had been replaced by Marc Bulger. In San Diego, Brees was being replaced by Rivers (that is why they traded for him) Brees was considered ineffective. So historically you are correct, but if you look at what the thought process was at the time, you would be wrong.

Even at that time Warner had won a Super Bowl with the Rams. Moore or Garrard don't come close to having that on their resume.

Look, you guys need to know. If you feel that Tannehill is he guy then you pull the trigger. I'm not saying that Tannehill is another Marino, but don't forget how many people wiffed on Marino back in 1983. Tannehill might turn into a above average QB if given the chance. I don't believe in a player being a "Reach" if you have that player rated high on your board.

The Bills obviously had Aaron Maybin rated high on their board in 2009 when they took him at #11. Obviously, Nick Saban had Ted Ginn, JR rated high on Miami's board when he drafted him. How'd those reaches work out?

People always point to the few exceptions of reaches that work out but reality is that most don't. The fact is when you draft a prospective player a lot higher than his talent/body of work says he should be drafted, you are taking a much bigger gamble. When you take a guy at the top of the draft who really ought not to be taken until at least the 2nd or 3rd round, you are setting your team and that player up to fail.

But again, I won't complain if the Fins take Tannehill at #8. That will be much better for the Bills.

Yeah and they both have the combined IQ of a melting popsicle. What's your point? I'm not saying that only guys that have played the game make good NFL reporters, but those three I mentioned act like they've played the game with their holier-than-thou attitudes and disrepectful comments towards certain teams, IMO. Just like Jim Rome. Effing douches all around.

Whoops. I wanna apologize to Jason Cole. I got him confused with Alex Marvez, as they both used to be Dolphins beat writers and now are involved in the national media. Damn, I feel stupid. But, yeah those other guys are d-bags and now lets add Alex Marvez to that list. Jason Cole be legit. Sorry.

Now, back to the thread topic. Could it be possible that Tannehill falls to 8 and Miami grows some big balls, trading down a few spots and still get him whilst picking up and extra 2nd? A guy can dream right?

Cam Cameron drafted Ginn, Jr not Saban.

Might be better for the Jills this year, as they will have another top player to choose from that can start for them this year. But IF Tannehill pans out for the Phins by 2013, we would have the youngest franchise QB in the division and Brady would only have a few more years left at that point. Fitzpatrick and Sanchez are not franchise QBs. So Tannehill could be the top AFC East QB by 2015, especially under the tutelage of Philbin and Sherman. Be careful what you wish for.

I also think it is funny that one of those idiots (forget which one) said if the Fins don't pick Tannehill the fans will be even more upset. That is just the typical media bull **** spin. This way if someone jumps in front of Miami, they can continue this false meme of Ireland "did not get his man". If Miami does get him, they can still call it a reach (especially if we do trade up). And if #8 comes and Tannehill is on the board and the Fins pass, then the media can continue its assault on Ireland and the Fins. If the media "experts" just read Finheaven, they would know that the hardcore fins fans are split o picking Tannehill.
Agree with all your posts on this thread Snakeoil. I think just let Ireland, Philbin and co do their thing, would love that we went for Tannehill but just let it play out. With Philbin and Sherman I'm just excited about letting these guys develop a QB no matter who he is.

Go get the kid, just like Reggie McKenzie said Draft picks set you back regardless of where they're picked, I see Tannyhill being just as good or better than RGIII, just get hooked on the round he goes in but the product that you're going to get from this kid.
