Jason Cole: Set up to FAIL

Ahh here we go. It is the media's fault. Not the lack of leadership from the owner. Not the insistence of having to keep Joe. Not the looming Dawn Aponte floating around. Yep...Manod is killing our chances.

How about holding the owner accountable?

I feel sorry for you. Do you cry in your cereal every morning wishing the Dolphins had hired McCoy? Do you wish that McCoy had come here so that Ireland would still be our GM? Ah, but if McCoy had come here without Rivers, Ryan Matthews and O-line that can both pass block and run block and rookies that actually contribute to the team winning games would he be in the playoffs right now? Meh...probably not but then let's not talk about that, let's just pretend McCoy would have been the answer and not talk about the other factors that count in winning football games.

Lets also pretend that the media is always correct. They were correct about Incognito bullying Martin and Martin not being soft. They were right when they said Incognito punched a bouncer out and put him in the hospital. They were spot on when they said Fisher had been hired as the new Dolphins head coach. Lets put all our trust in the media because they wouldn't be wrong. All I'm asking is that they write about this power structure they keep saying is an issue so we can see exactly why potential GMs would not want to come to the Dolphins. I'm not saying they're lying I'm just wondering how much information they have before I agree with their infallible reporting.

Nope. I mean people dumping on me that I am a bad fan because I think this FO sucks and make my opinion known.

No offense, but I have only been on the forum a couple of months, and the one obvious thing that jumps out at you.....is that you seem to latch onto the latest bit of gossip and then start rationalizing how the sky is falling! I suspect that is why people dump on you.

24 hours ago, everyone was proud of Ross for forcing Ireland out and making the change everyone knew was necessary. Now, because of a twitter post, the sky is falling again, nobody wants to come here and we are the laughing stock of the league. It seems to me, the Phins are lining up interviews with GM Candidates and that process is moving forward. If you are going to continuously listen to all the noise that is out there, you are going to give yourself an ulcer.

Can you explain the hard push to get Joe and Dawn out, that it was not even worth mentioning when Ireland was here? I didn't see one thread talk about firing Ireland, Dawn, and Joe...not one. there may have been a clean house thread made, but it wasn't very popular. It was all Fireland. Now that he's gone, just seems like searching for something else to b!tch about.

Ireland should have been fired in 2011 if not 2010....that is my point. No more half measures. None. Hire a GM. Allow him to assemble an organization. They are not doing that.

That is why if Ross is going keep Joe and insistent on Aponte playing a role...just push up Brian Gaine and ride.

Considering that according to reliable source Barry Jackson that the Fritz Pollard association can't explain what the structure looks like perhaps that is worse.

Fine. I will play that game...Gamble does not come for other reasons. A Ross, a Farmer...rising stars...will not come because of Ross' insistence of keeping Joe and Aponte.

Smh

I do not have an inherent knowledge of NFL Team Politics. I wager to bet neither do you.

But in all organizations you typically have a "strong executive" model and a "weak executive" model.

It appears that the Dolphins are shading towards the "weak executive" model. This may in fact turn off some candidates because they want to have all the power. None of us is in any position to debate the merits of one versus one or the other.

I feel bad for you that you blaming a ****ty beat writer and a writer from some random website for damning the Fins chances at a good GM. Lol. Talk about lacking perspective.

I rest my case when the person I am arguing with come back to the personal qualifications each poster. You say none of us are in a position to debate this stuff...yet you have through this thread. It means you are done coming up with arguments supporting this aimless front office.

Actually not everyone, most yes, but not all. A few of us have been saying be careful of the power play going on but we keep being told we are just finding someone else to point fingers at. Now other more respected members of the media are coming out with things that are backing what Mando was saying. Some are starting to see what we have been saying while others are still refusing to think it really is happening.

We all want the same thing and that is for Miami to be the proud fanchise it once was, right now we are about as far from that as we can be, and with the circus going on down there for the last 6 years I for one am tired of it. Ross needs to clean house and or sell the team. The back door politics will kill this team. I hope to God I am wrong and will gladly eat crow but so far just about everything we have been saying is coming true right before our eyes.

LOL@all the doom and gloomers.

To me I see Ross trying to prevent obstacles that may have been in the way with Ireland aboard.

Level 1) Ross > Level 2) new GM/Dawn Apointe/Philbin > Level 3) OC / DC / STC > Level 4) Lower level coaches.

Doesnt look like the boogy man to me.

Hayden with all do respect.
The only bits of information than any of us get are crumbs.
We get maybe 1% of the picture.
This whole narrative started after Mando wrote a piece that for any intelligent person resembled propaganda not reality.

Lets see the process work itself out.
Perhaps the Dolphins are asking for certain restrictions or failsafes and that may turn off some candidates.

Perhaps those candidates will then leak this "power structure" nonsense to pressure the fins in releasing those failsafes.
This is all a game and you are following it like a lemming

Fair point........I have no idea about the internal politics, only what I hear and read. Yesterday, I heard Bill Polian and Jeff Darlington talking about how great a job this will be and how there is a lot of interest around the league. Today....this new slant. Who really knows, maybe Ireland was the source of any internal politicking and that is gone now?

But like you, I'm a fan and I hope for good decisions to be made and qualified people to be hired. Let's see what happens.

If Ross is just going to keep Joe and Aponte...just push Gaine and give him shot. The team would work best that way.

Yeah, not sure why anyone would be scared of Aponte. It seems to me, she'll only get involved, when it comes to the cap. The new GM will suggest players he wants, and let Aponte figure out if we can afford them. That's it. It's not like the new GM will have to go to Aponte and see if she thinks the players are a good fit. People are just blowing things way out of proportion. GM's can come in and work with an existing Head Coach. It's happened before, and Philbin is a new HC in the big scheme of things, I don't think Philbin is so stuck in his ways, that he won't listen the the GM.

I feel bad that you can't comprehend what I wrote...but you can blame the schools...and Philbin.
