Jets wanted Garrard, he chose Miami

I find it hard to believe that the Jets wanted Garrard. Maybe as a backup but I think Rex wants Sanchez to be the franchise (Tebow is their wildcat guy).

Anyways, I'm happy Garrard is at Miami.

I'm sure they looked into Garrard as a backup.

Cause Sanchez is so good, he could beat any competition they bring in.

It's not about him being "so good", the team has a lot invested in him and they believe in him. Unless peyton was going to play for peanuts(by NFL standards) there isn't a guy they would have brought in to start here.

Because the Jets organization likes Sanchez and see no need to upgrade.........yet. This season will decide Sanchez' long term fate. That's a lot of pressure to play under.

And that is unfortunate for you guys because he will never be better than he already is. Thats why they have to protect him with a running game.

If he can't handle the pressure this job isn't for him. I expect he'll be fine.

I'm excited, we have never had ayoung, durable QB like him in my lifetime watching this team. Will he be Brady or Manning? Of course not but we can win big w/ him and trhat's what really matters.

He would not have competed to start here, not a chance.

I think you're right - blind faith and stubborn commitment to a subpar QB, to the point where you won't allow any competition for fear he would lose, seems to be Tony Sparano's m.o. Worked out really well for us with Henne. Took injury for him to turn to the better option in Moore. Good luck with that.

yep and the results didn't change until you were out of the race, you would have "improved" eventually w/ henne too.

One of the goals was to upgrade the backup QB.

of course Garrard would be starting, every dolphin would start on the Jets.:rolleyes2:

No every dolphin wouldn't be starting for the jets, but there also aren't any NFL starting QBs that WOULDN'T be starting for the jets. You may think Sanchez is the savior but 73 career QB rating, with 55 TDs and 51 picks are not the kind of numbers any franchise is going to look at and think they have found their man. Now add to the mix this year that his defense has came back to earth and is going to be top 10 at best, and the fact that most of his weapons are gone and nobody can gain consistant seperation at the WR position and you are going to see Sanchez for what he is. It won't be pretty.

he wouldn't have even competed for the job.
Agreed, DG wouldn't HAVE to compete for a job, there would have been no one to compete with unless the jets brought in someone. The jets don't have a starting QB on their roster.

Yes the believe in him so much that they went after Peyton Manning (then say they had no real interest), traded for the most controversial distraction Tim Tebow as their backup QB, started out last season gun slinging throwing 40x a game, Sanchez struggled and the team struggled as a result, so then becasue "they believe in him" so much, they decide they are going to go back to ground and pound aka take the ball out of their QB's hands so he doesnt turn it over more, and now are installing packages that will directly take the ball out of the hands of the QB "they believe in" and put it in the hands of one of the only QB's with a worse completion percentage than Sanchez.....

yes makes perfect sense, they really know how to show they believe....

They didn't go after Peyton manning, every move made this offseason(including Tebow) was made to make Sanchez better.

We didn't start out throwing 40x a game, we fell behind early in some games and had to throw to try to catch up. Don't confuse the two.

I ask this again, if we were going hard after manning why would we hire Tony Sparano as our OC?

I can understand you believing that, since Henne and Sanchez are statistically similar, but we finally admitted to ourselves that that level of play isn't good enough. But you hang on to it for a while more...

You're absolutely insane if you think New York didn't make a move to go after Manning. They probably were well aware they had ZERO shot at getting him (likely the NY -> Manning connection) but regardless, if you think they would have passed on Peyton for Sanchez then you're even sillier than I could have assumed

It's a good thing we both know you don't evaluate QBs strictly on stats.

I know they didn't make a move, I know every move made in the offseason was w/ Sanchez in mind. I told you guys the the day we hired Sparano that told us all we needed to know about whether we'd be going after Manning.

If peyton would have come for cheap then I think we go after him but that wasn't happening.
