I think we're drafting a CB in the middle rounds and I think we're maybe cutting Sean Smith before the season starts. We need to bite the bullet and upgrade Smith, who isn't a nickel player. Marshall is apart of the solution but I'm betting we draft a player to start at nickel and eventually compete with Marshall for Smith's slot. Wilson is bound for the safety corps.
Casey Hayward, Dwight Bentley, Larry Parker - I'm guessing one of those three. I doubt we bite on Jenkins, but he'd be great.

I was pretty sure I read somewhere that Ireland drafted Wilson with the intention he would be a free safety, but then Sparano and crew moved him to CB. I agree Wilson at FS will benefit him and the Dolphins. It would be interesting to see how a combo of Rashad Jones at SS and Jimmy Wilson at FS would work....providing they can beat out their competition.
I have a funny feeling Marshall was signed with the intention that he could potentially be more than a nickle CB. I think he will be pushing Sean Smith for a starting CB position. Smith's coming up on a contract year. It's time for him to reach his "potential".

Last season especially with the lockout. I thought I heard reports that players being out of shape was a particularly bad problem for the Fins coming off the lockout last year, and that may have been one reason we started so poorly.

I am sure this move is only for now and that camp will decide who plays where. I would not take it as a given that Wilson has been handed the FS job without Marshall even getting a chance to compete. It is going to be an interesting battle in camp for secondary spots.
That guy is around the ball, extremely athletic kid. He made some quirky errors last year, including the lob over his head that he miss judged in week 3 against Cleveland, but from what I saw he can play. I'm excited about him, i'll say it now...he'll be a game changer with a full off season to work with the coaches!! STARTER

I personally like the guy, but I want to know if he'll be used more as a ballhawk or a stop-the-run kind of guy. Ballhawk is def a bigger need on this team for sure.

Free Safety IMO. His strengths make him much better suited for FS than SS. Plus, then Rashad can move from FS to SS where he seems to be much better suited to play also.
It doesn'r really matter what you label him: FS or SS, because in Coyle's system, as previously mentioned in this post, and countless other threads, the safety's for the dolphins are now interchangeable. Both need to cover, both need to hit and stick the run.
The old SS for the fins was that extra linebacker who attempted to roam until he roamed into a play, now that SS and FS is labeled just S because both back end defender can actually cover, and be that last line of defense. We have been getting killed by TE's and explosive WR's because of our tackling safety that wont happen quite as often, now.

Coaches thought it was a good move for Jason Allen's carrer too! Why switch young players around like that? They have to learn a new system every year and then we ask for their release and call them busts 'cause they can't play!
