There are plenty of reasons to think philbin could be a better coach. I can tell you his use or misuse of reggie bush was puzzling, his use or misuse of Wallace is puzzling. his calling of being a oline coach and subsequent underwhelming oline play for this season is puzzling. his half time adjustments are lackluster, and finally off the top of my head, who can argue that it's very puzzling to see Jordan being used so little.Because Hayden thought it was a huge mistake to start Tannehill on day one as a rookie and Joe has been a terrible coach ever since.
I don't get how you can profusely get after someone who actually doesn't consider Philbin a coaching savant up to this point.
Hayden's assessment is very fair - he is a good locker room guy, a good leader when it comes to focus/etc - but his IN GAME management has been mediocre at best.
That's not as much an opinion as it is a fact based on performance. Just based on this season, we came out off a 11 day break to play the 0-8 Buccaneers - and lost. We came off our BYE week, a 14 day break to play a mediocre Bills team - and lost.
Just those two examples are HUGE - those are HUGE indictments of his ability as a coach. But we consistently are getting demolished in the second half of games, where are the half time adjustments? This is another indictment of him.
I'm not even trying to harp on the negative because I think he has been at least decent for us up to this point and I'd like to think better than Cam Cameron or Tony Sparaon... but the facts are, that up til now, he's been about average (and surprise, so has our teams record).

The **** o-line play is not that puzzling, many people called that before the even season started.
you cannot HONESTLY tell me you thought the line would be as bad as it was. there is no ****ing way you can say that with a straight face.
Hayden doesn't miss a chance to take a jab at Philbin. Its a norm. I just choose to make light of it.
I could go further into the debate. But as someone who looks at what Coach Philbin started with here in MIA, and where we are. I give him more breaks than most here. I also give RT alot of breaks on his streaks of below avg play. Having a young QB who is raw and developing, should allow for the understanding that growing pains will also occur with a 29 game NFL HC.
I have steadfastly maintained that Ireland be fired. I have not changed my opinion.
Regarding Shermin, I wanted him gone too, but now I have been encouraged with the recent performances. I will wait until the season is over to pass judgment on him.
Philbin, apart from being publicly calm and without emotion(too much hand clapping) when it seemed that more fire was needed, he has handled this season better that most have expected, including myself.
I never gave up on him, but I was having some doubts. I am glad to see where we are now. He should have a few years to prove himself. We gave Fistpump 5 years, Philbin should have the same opportunity.
This is all opinion, though - which is absolutely your right to have. I don't have an agenda against Philbin and I really like Tannehill... I'm not talking about does he have "it" or any other emotion based opinion... I want to point out specific facts of the season - our inability to come out in the 2nd half and play even average (we are pretty BAD in the 2nd half of games). Our inability to win games with extra preparation (Bucs, Bills). These are not just opinions, these are facts... he has fallen very short this season as far as in-game management and game-day performance... and that's not just an opinion, that is something we have ALL seen.
We all want this team to succeed, and we all want Philbin to succeed... but the truth is, he has been VERY underwhelming this season.
Your opinion is jaded on Coach Philbin. Regardless of how you try to spin it, you throw your jabs at him on a consistent basis.
*Billick is a non issue, as you brought out your pom poms for Fisher.
*McCoy continues to be underwhelming in SD.
Fisher who ended up in the NFC West, with NO dominant QB or coach in the division...ooops. While you cheerlead Fisher from FH, his team had/has more pieces than the Phins did. A veteran QB and strong lines. All the while he has put up a 5-8 record, playing in a dome and facing division foes outside of SEA, that all play in warm weather climates. MIA facing 3 teams in the northeast could only wish to have the luxury of being able to stay in indoors in NOV and DEC.
And I don't hate Fisher, I just think he's overrated. And his coaching to date in STL has proven my point. The fact ARZ has done more with less, in the same division, makes my point.

Don't tell me that McCoy has underwhelmed.
