Joe Rose reporting our O line looks better now then at any point last year

I would be easy with that little bit of reporting. Everyone looks good in helmets and shorts. Also, tackling dummies and blocking sleds don't hit back and they don't stunt gaps. Let's see who the oline responds come TC....

I understand your point but, the person(s) making the observation that the line looks better is most likely taking into account that they are in shells, and yet after seeing them all of last year and a tiny bit this year, has decided that they do indeed look improved. Obviously, when the game gets real, he may or may not be right, that doesn't mean they can't look better right now though.

I've played Lacrosse since I was 6, all through HS, I played in college, I play in leqagues to this day.

I played hockey til I moved to Ohio.

I played football in Middle and High School.

Don't tell me about sports.

You need to be aggresive by nature. Sure excitment can be generated from the sidelines, but if you aren't aggresive by nature, you won't ever be.

Get a clue.

I think the funniest part about this BS post is that you think these offensive lineman aren't agressive by nature. They are career football players (some first round draftees) and you think they would have made it this far (through HS and college) if they were not aggressive football prlayers(prerequisite as an offensive lineman)?

OBVIOUSLY these players are naturally agressive - they are career offensive lineman for heaven sake.

I'll leave the rest for you to figure out on your own because I hate having to be a teacher maybe someone else will kindly teach you but I have my last final in an hour.

Yeah, I started to respond to the same comment about three times but decided to exercise a little bit of restraint as well. Well said.

Weird, so did I.

I think we might have taken Brown because he was the BPA. However, I have never given up on Gordon. I think we have two backs that are going to be able to help this team win games.

I'm sure that if a QB was BPA at the time that any of our picks were made, we would have taken one of them.

It's silly to reach for a player simply because of a perceived need by the fans.

This was of course sarcasm also, perceptions can vary widely about how much patience various parts of the team should require.

From someone else's perspective we may have been too patient with the QB position over the last five years.

True. I am also anxious for any semblance of improvement b/c I think that had a good part to do with our QB play last year. I also know that this time of year this is the type of "news" that we will discuss. Sometimes improvment comes in small increments, so in that vein this is good news. I just want to temper some excitable fans expectations...

Its obvious that Saban and Houck dont think the OL is as bad as we thought it was.
They didnt do very much in the draft or FA to address this apparent weakness. So they must know something we dont know.

IMO there will be a definite improvement if only because it couldnt be any worst than last year.

Insult deleted.

But com'on, he has a point?

All I said was agression isn't something you teach. Thats true for any team. You guys are sensetive.

Hmmm...don't know about that one. Sometimes people need a spark...so I disagree to a certain extent although there is a baseline of natural aggression that each person has. You can motivate people to play harder/better/meaner.

But I agree with you that there are some things that one can't teach. One of them is intelligence and Wade Smith, Taylor Whitley and Seth McKinney (all Spielman picks) didn't show the ability to pick up the system or adapt to different blitzes last year. Time will tell if the problem was in their brains or the prior coaching staff. Having a guy like Houck will answer that question.

 We already have too many people that love to do that.

Are you implying that the QB position should be easier to learn than blocking assignments? That we should have patience for an o-line who were horrible last year, yet the QB playing behind them gets no such benefit?

True. Just hearing that they understand their technique and responsibilities is about all you can hope for until the hitting starts. If the staff is happy with where they are right now that's great news.
