John Clayton on Mike and Mike

"Dawn great to see you today. GO! Joe, Jeff thanks for coming to my office. GO GO!"

"Jon thanks for coming to my office. I trust you diversified all that money. If we make the playoffs next year it's a $10m bonus. If your QB is in the top 5 you get a $5m bonus. Please note that if I figure out the snap count, your contract states you can be fired with cause. Get to work"

i am even more depressed right now

Don't feel too bad. I'm sure these clowns can make it even worse somehow.

My ultimate nightmare is Ross announcing he plans to own the team for however long it takes to correct things ....

i hate to say this, but i think this will be definitely the case

Good.

If it's a good coach/gm combo it won't take 2 years.

It will take two years even with a good coach/GM combo. Re-signing Grimes, Clemons, and either Soliai or Starks will eat up probably $12-15M of the roughly $40M in cap space we'll enter the offseason with.

Beyond that, the rest of our offseason is about a complete rebuilding of the offensive line -- three new starters through free agency, and the other two via early draft picks. Rebuilding that unit correctly will not leave much in the way of resources to address other needs such as upgrading the depth at running back, tight end, offensive line, defensive tackle, linebacker, and safety.

Start today...why wait....

Because any football person worth his salt is working in football right now, so all you would accomplish is assuring that you did not actually get a good GM and Coach.

Before people talk about the former coaches returning to the game, let'smake sure to mention that there are almost no coaches that have returned that had high success on their return. Most were like Gibbs.

So yeah, Ross sshouldn'tclean house right nnow. Even if he has already decided to clean house ... he should wait until the end of the season to let people go.

Of course, he can put out feelers now if he has learned how to be discrete. This is indeed the time to guage interest in the job of GM and start thinking about who they would bring as a coach and who he would bring as a staff.

If Ross has already decided to make it a clean sweep, we shouldstart hearing about potential GM candidates being sounded out about their levels of interest.
