John Clayton on the fins

Uh Oh

All these rival fans sound pretty damn SCARED to me. Crisis is freaking out, trying to convince himself that Ricky wont be the same back. You might as well face it, we now have two potential pro bowl running backs, and we are going to run all over the Bills again. :cooldude:

they scored more for your team while AJ scored more for the other. :D

 Now was that really called for? Don't make AJ have to come down to your team's home, and light them up like he did last year....oh wait, he gave as much as he recieved in that game, didn't he? Never mind. :D

my point is, both your running and passing game sucked. Clayton was partly right. ;)

And BOTH sucked because why? As i've been saying, our Offensive Line could block no one. No time to pass for the quarterback, no holes to run through for the running back, and no coach smart enough to desing a blocking scheme to pick up a bliting DB, Safety, or LB... all of that equals no production from either the QB or the RB, and no production from the QB equals no production from the WR's.. ahhh.. starting to see how this NFL game works now? We'll have class again later kids. Our offensive line and coaching sunk our offensive production last year..... do you think Joe Montana or Dan Marino in their prime and Emmitt Smith or Terrell Davis would have faired any better than Feeley or Morris did last year? The answer is NO! That offensive line would have got them killed... Improvement along the O-Line this year with a couple of position switches, a couple of new players, and a good coach, will allow all other areas to raise their level of success.

You just made my point. Our secondary was overconfident against AJ in that 1st half. Kinda like the rabbit and the turtle race story. It's just that in this story the rabbit won. :D.

Clayton says Ricky will only be a back up this year and that it was poor quarterbacking that hurt us last year.

Don't think so John.:yell: I'm no Fiedler fan but how about the horrible play of our Oline last year. We should be vastly improved with Hudson Houck's help. Give AJ and Gus time and I think they can at least do an adequate job. How about our recieving corps this year and the addition of Ronnie ( best hands in the draft)?

Ricky as a backup at best? John, I doubt that this much time and energy has been spent by all the parties involved to see Ricky be a bench warmer.:shakeno:

I don't see a problem with what Clayton said. RW is expected to be the backup. The over/under on his yards is 500. That's a backup. Sure, the stars could align for RW and make him a probowl back again, but the expectation by most people (including the coaching staff) is and should be that this guy is a backup.

And we had the worst quarterbacking in the league last year. You don't think that hurt us? It's not like Clayton went out on a limb here. He didn't say that was the only thing wrong with this team. There were many problems, but quarterbacking was certainly one of them.

I believe I've covered this. ;)

Overconfident?

How were you able to so effectively judge their state of mind?

I have been waiting for over thirty years for a situation like this to manifest itself again in Miami. It has the potential to lend itself to something VERY special. Puts the QB in position to be only an efficient manager. Puts offense in position to control first downs and clock with minimal risk of turnovers. Should/could afford passing game to be what ever it wants to be. "IF"

Yeah, now if only we had the Field general Bob Griese to operate it.

We had Brian and let him go to keep Dumbo.

So you're expecting a guy who walked out on your team last year, has to serve a 4-game suspension, add on top of that his social disorder or whatever ...not to mention no one knows how he's doing physically (could be wrong on that) and you think Ricky is going to be his old self? This isn't the same player that carried the Dolphins two years ago.

Ronnie Brown was drafted for a reason, and that's to be the premiere back. You don't draft a guy #2 overall to sit him on the bench, unless your the Detroit Pistons.

Now that was funny!

I like having depth at running back, but how many teams have had a lot of success when they split the carries between two backs at the professional level? Not many.

This isn't 1972, and we aren't going to an offense where we may throw the ball 10 times a game. One of the two will have to step up and be the guy that gets the ball and gets into a groove.

Ricky Williams will not be an effective runner with 10-15 carries a game. He's not that style of runner. He needs the ball 20+ times a game to get going.

Ronnie Brown has split time with Cadillac at the college level, but the skills he brings to the table suggests that he should be in on all downs.

I would personaly go with Ronnie Brown because I know he won't quit on the team.

clayton is by far the funniest looking man ive ever seen
