Just watched the game DON'T UNDERSTAND the frustration with Tannehill

 I love the argument as to how that missed throw to a wide open Wallace was somehow Wallace's fault. "He didnt locate it".

When I walk out on to my back porch, I can not locate the Washington Monument. That is because the Washington Monument is about 300 miles from my house.

I seriously can't go another season watching mounting excuses for why Tannehill can't hit a damned wide open Mike Wallace. It's going to make me go postal.

Two words, check downs.

That interception was awful. I have faith he's the franchise, but in this game vs a bad defense I expected more.

Nat Moore is the one who initially said it.

I honestly think people often have trouble separating the QB from the offense. If the offense doesn't do well, the QB played poorly. If the offense plays well, the QB played well. I don't know why this is, but it just seems to happen over and over.

In this case, you'll find the main argument that Tannehill played poorly was that the offense only scored three points. He was supposed to get them in the endzone and it's like if someone fumbles, someone draws a bad flag, forgets to block or drops a key pass, it's all on him and there's barely a chance to get a word in edgewise if you disagree.

Well saying Wallace did not locate the ball is not technically incorrect. I am sure he did not locate it. Again, I can not locate the Washington Monument from my back porch. It can be difficult to locate things that are nowhere close to you.

Wallace not being able to locate a pass that was a really bad misfire does not make it Wallace's fault that the play was not completed.

Sometimes I feel like there are a lot of people on both sides of the Tannehill debate, or any Finheaven debate, that seem to watch the game with sole intent of finding some morsel of evidence to support their side of the argument.

I don't care about any of the QB stats, any of the WR stats or any of the RB stats. I only care about points on the scoreboard. At this point Tannehill is simply not getting the Dolphins enough points.

Again, I can not locate the Washington Monument from my back porch.

Here you go. This is what it looks like, so you can now stop trying to find it from your back porch.

I'm 100% with you. You are correct.

However, that said, I still do not believe Ryan Tannehill had a good game on Saturday. He had one bad throw to Sims, one AWFUL decision on a throw to Hartline that got picked off, and one missed throw to an open Wallace. I don't think that the bulk of his play in the game was good enough to mitigate those three glaring errors.

I still think Ryan Tannehill is a good quarterback. I think he's the guy. But IMO he had a poor game on Saturday night.

I think if Wallace just runs and doesn't stumble, he gets to the ball.......however he was so wide open if Ryan would have just threw it at him it would have been a TD. It didn't take a perfect pass with a perfect pattern there, Tanne should have seen that.

Maybe to a small extent, but that was a quick-release, throw to a spot, timing play. The pass was thrown slightly left, but not so far off that it was un-catchable had Wallace been able to run a clean route. No way to know for sure, but I'd bet money Williams makes that catch.

Edit: A lot of this offense is predicated on throwing to a spot.

I agree...the first drive they clearly went to the ground game and settled for a field goal....fumbles and drops killed other drives.

The execution could have been better...but I am happy with the progress and the look of this offense.

It was unspectacular, but I really think they wanted to do more running and shorter stuff. He missed some throws, I think the hartline throw was a miscommunication that got intercepted. I wouldn't say he struggled, he just didn't wow.

This whole forum is sounding very similar to how it did when Henne was here, the vast majority thought he was the guy, a few brave souls voiced an alternate view point, they were largely shot down all the way through to when the penny eventually dropped mid way through his last season with us, when it was clear than he wasn't the man.

It's homerism really some on here are blind to the faults and who can blame them after so long without hope, they desperately cling to any small glimpses of it. Tanny could easily go the same way as Henne, that viewpoint is not welcome on this forum though. I have a feeling he will and become a run of the mill average QB in this league like Henne is, I'm hoping though that I'm so very wrong here, all our eggs our in the Tanny basket, we and the coaching staff too can't afford him to fail.

In terms of his performance against Dallas, not good enough if that was a game that mattered, thankfully it didn't and hopefully some learning points for him to take away, despite the spin in this thread, if he plays like that against Brady and his Pats we are gonna lose. The guy really needs to work on that deep ball, that should be a focus for their practices, it's plain as the nose on his face, that we'll never get the best out of our highest paid player until he and the QB sort this out. Decision making with young QBs is always a work in progress, the INT was a horrendous piece of decision making, he's a smart kid apparently so learn from this Ryan.

All hope is not lost, it's not the end of the world, if anyone on the forum is declaring Tanny a bust right now, they are simply wrong, he's young, has potential, has the tools, is intelligent enough to work on his game and try to improve, but time is running out for him, the 3rd season for a young QB is usually the point that you know what you've got, he looks like he's got a good OC to help his game now and if the line play the way they played against Dallas, he won't have the excuse for next year. Make it happen Ryan, fulfill that potential become the franchise guy you have it in you to become.
