Just watched the game DON'T UNDERSTAND the frustration with Tannehill

So, ignore the facts and blame the QB.

For the millionth time.... THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ANY EXCUSES

All I've heard are a ton of excuses... Sherman, the offensive line, bad running backs, overrated receivers, bad FG kickers. Am I wrong that he was atrocious against the Bills and the Jets when all the team had to do was win one of those games to make the playoffs? Am I wrong that he was totally underwhelming in certain wins, one of them that comes to mind being against Cincinatti? Somehow though, with some people, it was never his fault.

As I indicated, but perhaps didn't make clear, I'm willing to look past all that. But this year the team has to win at least nine games or he has to be great statistically (i.e. the team is losing games despite how well he's playing) for me to at least not be frustrated with him. Even a lot of injuries can't be an excuse anymore. Those are part of the game, and happen to everyone. Some QBs can deal with them, and others can't. The latter are ones that are not going to take you anywhere worth going.

It is really very simple. He was the best player on the offense. When a team is analyzing REASONS for poor performance of the TEAM, they tend to focus on the poorest performers, hence we have 4 new starters on the OL, a new RB, and a new OC and NOT A NEW QB.

That's a good point indeed. If the 2013 offensive line was any good, we could have kept the players and replace the QB (except for Martin and Incognito obviously). The team chose to replace nearly the entire line along with the line coach. Tells me they don't think the QB was the problem. The QB that threw the most TD passes of a Dolphins QB since #13 with the worst offensive line in football and no running game.

I'm not even saying that Tannehill is great. I just want to see him play under better circumstances. If he can be an average QB with last season's OL and running game, I am at least curious to see what he can do if they improve.

I have never seen a QB perform as well as Tannehill under similar circumstances and get benched. I don't expect to see it this year either.

I probably overuse the phrase, but saying that Tannehill was the best player on the offense last year is like bragging about being the valedictorian of summer school. In any event, you could argue that Clay was the best player on the offense last year.

Omg dude, the point is the RT wasn't the problem last year. Can you grasp that?

Really? He might not have been THE problem, but if the offense is at the bottom of the league in virtually every statistical category, the QB is certainly part of the problem. If these were the results that Geno Smith was getting, it would be LOL Jets.

Nevertheless, this is the year he has to take off the diapers. If he can, great. I want him and the team to succeed. If he can't, he never will.

So what you're saying is you dont watch the games, you just look at the score and say 'Oh our QB sucks'?

i'm just curious, but exactly what category is the offense at the bottom of? The oline pass and run blocking? How is the QB part of that problem, is he supposed to help block while passing?

Tannehill played bad in the game no doubt. But he didn't get the chance to finish the game, that's what makes it hard to draw a solid conclusion, and why its hard put any stock on PS games IMO. Ive seen Tannehill rebound after a bad pick multiple times. But he didn't get that chance because its a meaningless game,..

Fixed it for you.

In passing yards, points, and rushing they were number 20 or lower. How good your QB is has an affect on all of those, even rushing. Every QB has problems with the supporting cast, and every QB has to deal with injuries. The issue is whether the QB is good enough to overcome that. Whatever the case, it is absolutely no excuse put up the two giant stinkers in the last two games that cost us the playoffs.

And to the other question, I didn't watch three games last year. The Colts win, the loss to the Patriots, and the loss to the Jets. (Although I listened to the Patriots and Colts games on the radio). So I actually didn't see what was arguably Tannehill's worst and least gutsy performance.

Again, when you think of Tannehill, ask yourself if he had these results with the Jets, would you be scared or what it just be LOL Jets?

not even going to argue with you. tannehill had the 10th most passing yards. not even going to read the rest of your post. please, just stop arguing about something you know nothing about.

Forget last year. Where is the improvement this year? Tannehill led the team to 3 points despite playing almost halfway into the 3rd quarter against the worst defense in football in a game in which he received both excellent pass protection and a solid running game. Don't tell me that the Sims fumble is 100% responsible for the putrid performance. There is no evidence to suggest that Tannehill is progressing.
