not quite, Marino didn't play directly againts Kelly, so you really can't say that. Marino did his part in the playoffs, it was the team that lost those games. And the point is that Kelly is a fraud, he should never be in the HOF with these kind of numbers in the SB:Justasportsfan said:and Marino was Kelly's biggest b!tch. What's your point?
Yeah, yeah so what was go_fins' point?SCall13 said:yeah, Jim Kelly single-handedly beat Marino. :shakeno: Last I checked Kelly had something that Marino didn't: An outstanding running game and a very very good defense.

I aint saying he was as good as Dan but all the same he is due a hell of a lot of a credit to what he has brought the game. I'm in full admiration for this guy----But Dan was better :)

SCall13 said:OK, here goes: Jim Kelly looked alot better because of Thomas. If he didn't have Thurman, his level of play and the success of the team would have been much lower. When teams played the Bills, the defnsive game plan revolved more around stopping Thomas than Kelly. I'm not saying that Kelly wasn't good. He was. But when the going got tough, the tough ran. Everytime his team was getting spanked, Kelly mysteriously got hurt. For example: The Oilers game. Buffalo was getting inhilated by the Oilers. Conveniently, Kelly got hurt. In comes Reich and brings the Bills back. Then in the Dallas-Buffalo Super Bowl, Dallas starts running away from Buffalo and, again, Kelly gets hurt. There are several other examples of this.
**EDIT** Kelly was not hurt in the game against the Oilers. I was wrong about that. But it did happen on quite a few occasions.
SCall13 said:I could be wrong about Kelly starting that game then getting injured. BUT, there were numerous times that he did get "hurt" when the team was losing badly. And somehow he was perfectly fine the following week everytime.
By the way, it was the very Super Bowl (against Dallas) that Frank Reich got Buffalo to, that Jim Kelly conveniently got hurt again. The only that was hurt about Kelly in that game was his PRIDE.
This is a very true statement. People forget how tough the NFC was back then. The NFC back then was as good as the AFC is now.PhinPhreak said:See it's comments like this that are just plain dumb, I bet you are the first one to defend Marino when people say he sucked because he never won a Suepr Bowl.
Kelly was not the reason the Bills lost the 4 SB's.
3 of the 4 they just played a better team and the other one they were out coached.
