Kiper on Phins Trading Up

Well I disagree about calling someone with an identical twin already playing the same position in the NFL "unique" because he obviously isn't one of a kind. But generally agree with most of the rest.

This is a deep draft and that matters. But given the ruleset changes and passing proclivity, RT'S are becoming more important.

Pouncey is a good athlete for the position, but he also lacks power, so while he is exceptional at down field blocking, he isn't great at moving the pile in the run game or holding the PoA against strong interior power. I'm not so sure his skill set is awesome, but definitely very good overall.

I think argument #3 is the best personally. His identical twin showed the ability, work ethic, durability and production making Mike a low risk pick. That's still quite a premium for that comfort.

Personally, I wouldn't draft a C at 15, but you make some good points. This pick worked out, even if we over drafted the position.

RT is worthy of a top 10 pick. Personally, I've been saying all along that Martin is a stud LG, and while I'd be very happy to add him at 19, I'd always prefer Lewan.

I would consider trading up for Lewan.

Given the new rookie wage scale and the costs of the 5th year options, trading up will definitely be cheaper than ever. If any team trades down gets anything close to that antiquated Jimmy Johnson draft value chart they just fleeced the team loving up. I'd expect closer o half that, and often less.

Our OL is in worse shape today than it was this time last year. If we don't fix that dependably in this draft, our season implodes and we have to blow it up and start over ... again.

I think we need at least 2 OL in our first 3 picks. If not, we wasted a season, staff, and maybe QB. This draft is midnight the night before our term paper is due. If we screw this up, we fail.

I mostly agree with Digital, and posted the same "painted into a corner" a while back. However, I'm thinking that a vet, like a Clabo or one yet to be available, will be more effective this year than a second tier guy like Moses, etc, and that other positions will hold more long term value.

IF we cannot make a move for a Matthews, Lewan or, maybe Martin. I'm not passing on better value just to fill a need, who may well struggle, to develop.

Please. MIA needs a RT, not a LT.

MIA can trade DOWN with a team who passed on QB at the top of the first round in exchange for a top of the second round and a couple other picks, then snag James or Kouandjio to start at RT.

IF MIA trades up, the rumor is that they are talking with MIN for the #8 in exchange for #19 and future draft picks and the target is likely TE Eric Ebron.

You trade up for game changers, not RTs.

Minny is the one team I targeted for a trade up but, was thinking Matthews or Lewan. I think Ebron can be had for a lessor trade up.

Looks like this "expert" think our FO is full of fools, how can we move up that far to get a player that everyone knows is not that special, that is silly. I have some respect for McShay because does not pretend to know everything.

Which player is it that everyone knows is not that special?

Watching ESPN, and Kiper said that Miami is one team who "should" trade up in this draft. They need to get protection for their young QB, and would have to move up to the #10-12 range to get a top guy on the OL like a Martin.

Kiper should go back to watching film and keep his mouth shut.

Why? What did he say that offended you so much? The part that insinuates that Miami's line sucks and they need to protect their young QB? Or maybe the part that he believes the top O lineman will be gone by their pick so they should trade up for one? Whether you agree with Miami moving up or not its not a ridiculous suggestion.
