La Canfora: Kahn and Vital will also intetview

None of them have ever been GM'S that is what I am talking about.

All of them have work under others who ran the GM position.

Sorry should have said GM not coaches.

I wish La Canfora would just stop reporting on the Dolphins. Good or bad, I'm sick and tired of seeing his freaking face and hearing his freaking voice (and tweets)

How come they don't have an interview with any Italians? I think that's descrimination. Can we start a rule that says at least one Italian candidate must be interview?

Ozzy rules!!

How many guys are there out there that ran an NFL team very successfully that are in a position to take the dolphins job?

Not many.
GM is not a position you leave if you are doing a good job.
There is no established home run candidate.

I believe Highsmith and Khan both are black. Maybe some other candidates are black also.

Khan is half pakistani half honduran fwiw

So, usually someone isn't going to interview for a lateral position, so that would eliminate all GM's who currently have a job. So who does that leave? Carl Peterson, Scott Pioli, Bill Polian, Charlie Casserly, and the like. You have to ask yourself which one of those retreads do I want to run the show? From those anyone but Pioli would be OK, but times change and quickly in the NFL. Why not look for new blood?

They have Marino on the advice commitee. Is he Italian enough?

So far we have:

Lake Dawson (TEN)
Ray Farmer (CLE)
Lional Vital (ATL)
Omar Khan (PIT)
Alonzo Highsmith (GB)
Marc Ross (NYG)
Jason Licht (ARZ)

That's a pretty solid group there.

Let's see if they actually interview. Just because we ask doesn't mean they will agree to do it.

Neither was Ryan Grigson. That guy is damn impressive! The drunken tweeter hit a home run bringing his talents to Indianapolis. We end up with even a poor man's version of him and we've hit the jackpot!

I hope these interviews aren't just smoke and mirrors. Bring in a bunch of candidates and ask them how they would fix the team then simply promote Gaines. Gaines then implements all or some or none of the ideas given by the candidates. With the current structure, this makes me wonder.

I suspect that's what's occurring.

I also smell a football czar in our near future (ala Bill Parcells) especially if we simply promote Gaines. Remember when Parcells came and asked Dallas for Ireland to be his "GM". There was concern that it was a lateral move for Ireland as he was just doing Parcells bidding. But Parcells denied it and we eventually hired Ireland as our "GM".

I hope this is not the case now. Can't the Dolphins just do things like every other team? Hire a GM to do GM things like sign free agents, draft players, hire/fire coaches, etc. Not a puppet to do a czars bidding....
