La Canfora: Ochocinco wants to join Dolphins/Will work out this week for Miami

Oh, it's gonna happen alright! :brewskis:

Looks like the circus is coming to town. He's coming back home.

Things will be entertaing this year that's for sure. Seats need to get filled. :d-day:

I guess Billicheck doesn't need to worry about Chad giving our defense any pointers on the Pats offense. :rolleyes2:

The Dolphins are at 90 players right now and would have to release someone to sign Ochocinco. My question to all of you, who would you rather have competing for a spot at WR in training camp, Ochocinco or Chris Hogan?

Its amazing how many people (and writers) see this as an opportunity for Miami to get "star power" THAT just SHOULD not be a priority. No matter what. But given the Hard Knocks move, (which is ok with me) who knows how Philbin sees a chance to put Ocho on the roster. I watched him disappear in their offense last year in a few games, alligator arm a few catches and look lost or confused enough to vote No on him signing with Miami

I'll answer that with a question of my own...who would more likely create a distraction on Hard Knocks, Ochocinco or Chris Hogan?

Listen, I can only think of two reasons to bring him in:

1. He will help lead us to a Superbowl Championship this year (not very likely)

2. To help mentor our younger receivers (Davone Bess will do that, plus do you really want a guy who reportedly had trouble grasping NE's playbook mentoring our WR's)

So why sign him?

Well I don't see anything wrong with signing him. If he does not show the coaches anything earlier in camp, he can be cut with the 1st batch of players. Miami is out 1 of 10 new players available that had a chance. So, basically we let go Mr. 89 or Mr. 90 that we currently have on the team. Those guys would not have seen many reps at all and would need something in a major way to make it happen.

If Chad just calls it in...good-bye. His value for Hard Knocks alone is worth more than that from a financial standpoint, which this is still a business..lol. But really... this is a low risk, low cost as Miami would not be tied to him for a big contract. Well this is assuming that he signs a Vet Min in hopes of a contract extension. If he wants more than the vet minimum...no thanks, good luck and good-bye!

If Chad digs deep and hopes to regain a bit of his street cred in football, well then you have to think that he could earn a spot on the weakest WR corp in recent years for any team. I do not think that Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson could help us enough to overcome the holes on this team. I do think that Chad has something to offer, but only if he digs deep to prove people wrong & wants to have a good season (stats) before he retires.

It shouldn't be about creating distractions or story lines for Hard Knocks. It should be about upgrading the wide receiver position. Bringing Ochocinco in and letting him compete, with no final roster guarantee, is not a bad idea.

No, he isn't going to win us a Super Bowl, but he might improve the team in 2012. If not, they can just cut him. Did you know that Antonio Freeman once spent a training camp with the Dolphins and got dumped before the start of the regular season? Jerry Rice went to camp with the Broncos but got dumped before the start of the season. Kicking his tires is not a bad thing.

It's almost like we have all pros at the wide receiver position apparently... no need bring in veteran wide receivers. lol is there really any harm in seeing what chad's got?
realistically im not expecting much. all the hooplah about him not being able to digest the playbook in New England seems like a bad excuse for.... he just couldn't cut it, despite a friendly offense and Tom Brady. but whatever

Looking at our receivers, I couldn't care less what your name is, can't hurt to see what you've got, ocho included

We don't need a fading veteran. Give the young guys a shot and see if any of them can emerge.

Easy answer to a baited question.

Chris Hogan.

Reason?
Circus wasn't there before he became a dolphin, and the circus won't be there when he is very uncerimoniously is cut.

Neither can be said about Ouch-Stinko..

Hey. In related news, Turdell owens is a FA. He and the locally high powered Allen Wranglers have split the sheets....which is amazing since Turdell actually was was a part owner. The connection?
Neither Turdell nor Ouch-Stinko can go a day without their names being headlines, and they will go the extra mile to make sure it happens. Oh, and neither are worth a roster spot on an NFL team at this juncture.......

You see, it doesn't matter anymore.

The Dolphins will have absolutely ZERO to say about what is aired on Hard-Knocks. Having Oucho-Stinko in camp will be nothing but HBO-Made up fodder from day 1.

Actually, the more I think about it, it might be worth it for 1 reason, and 1 reason only. DISTRACT HBO while they go on with Training camp....as it should be......

Please work him out. Please just take a chance with this guy. He doesn't get in trouble and he has calm down in the past two years. Let him come to Miami and play his heart out. He is on a road to redemption. Let him redeem himself with a Miami jersey on. Its not like it would hurt our current roster.

I didn't see Ochocinco's name in a negative light while he was in New England once.

Look at the numbers. That is a SERIOUS negative light.

Oh, we didn't see Randall Moss' name come out.well, maybe twice while in the vacuum of New England, and the second time led to his release......

IJS......
