Lakers Lakers Lakers

Agh i hate the blazers they always seem to play the games of their lives vs us.We have to be more aggressive on D if you wana win esp on the road and play with intensity thruout the game not just when the opponent is 15 points up.This team only scored 64 points vs the spurs and yesterday they had 58 only at HT.

Bynum get your *** ready fast, we need you young man.

Depressing:boohoo:

I dont know what it is about the Rose Garden we just cant win there. I wish this team played D all 4 qtrs. They play great D in the the 4th but crap in the first 3 qtr.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Andrew Bynum might make his highly anticipated return in a home game Sunday against San Antonio, Coach Phil Jackson said.

"There's a chance," Jackson said. "It would have to be under a situation in which he could practice on Saturday in a way that would convince me to play him on Sunday. Right now, we're certainly not counting on that. It's just really a longshot."

Bynum will need to show he can move well "in traffic" at practice, Jackson said. The next morning will also be important in determining how Bynum's knee reacts to a full practice.

Bynum would come off the bench if he played Sunday and would almost surely be limited in his minutes. He has not played since suffering a bone bruise in his left knee and a brief dislocation of the kneecap Jan. 13 against Memphis.

Bynum has not gone through a full practice yet, although he has taken turns playing one-on-one against Chris Mihm and assistant coaches Kurt Rambis and Brian Shaw.

Bynum is averaging 13.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots a game. He averaged 17.3 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots in six games in January before getting hurt.

The Lakers have one regular-season game after Sunday, playing host to Sacramento next Tuesday.

Either way, Jackson would like Bynum to be ready for the playoffs, especially if the Lakers draw Phoenix in the first round.

"We think that against a guy like Shaquille [O'Neal], he would be an important person to have on your team because he's got the bulk and the size to put himself out there and stop some of that bull nature that Shaq has," Jackson said.

Injury Update: Jackson said that Andrew Bynum is scheduled to fly to New York today to undergo a check-up that will go a long way for determining whether or not Andrew is able to practice this Saturday in preparation for a possible Sunday return. Jackson also updated Luke Walton’s injury status, revealing that he is back on the court doing basketball related activities, but has yet to run at full velocity.

After today’s practice, Coach Jackson said that the team went through a video session today that focused on guard defense and penetration–two areas the team had trouble with in their loss to the Blazers last night.

In glancing ahead to the remaining four games on the season, Jackson said that he warned his team that the Clippers still pose a formidable threat, especially now that Elton Brand is back in action. Although center Chris Kaman’s might not be available, the Lakers coach said that a lineup featuring Magette, Mobley and Brand is still potent.

Jackson also reiterated his season-long stance that the team’s goal is to do the best they possibly can in the standings and to make sure they have home court advantage in the playoffs. With that said, Jackson said it is too early to begin scouting potential matchups with teams still jockeying for position heading into the season’s final week.

The lack of true Basketball fans anymore disturbs me. So many "NBA" fans wont watch because their team isn't in it, and the "boring" Spurs are in it, it shows how far the product has slipped and it's a shame because i love watching the Spurs fundamentally sound solid defensive basketball.

I get my solid defensive basketball fix watching in Pauley Pavilion so I'd pass on watching an NBA game with offensive struggles. But I'll watch if it looks like an intriguing evenly-matched series (i.e. Dallas vs. Miami). You'd expect that at the pro level, there'd be enough talent to get some hoops, make it roughly a 180 point total for both teams. Plus, when it's Spurs vs Cavs, you already know the outcome (I thought LeBron had some talent and was sure to win at least one, but geez). The Western Conference Finals that year was the true finals.

Pauley Pavillion!?

I love Bruin history as much as the next guy, but you should come east and hit the greatest basketball arena in the country THE PALESTRA! The history there, and the atmosphere in such a small incredible arena, absolutely amazing.

 Maybe later if I get into UPenn's medical school next year.

As for me, I enjoy playing IM on the same court once played on by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton, Baron Davis, and in the future, Kevin Love. Where else can you be the last ones in practice and get to meet the varsity team and future NBA-ers.

spurs vs. cavs com'n everyone knew the outcome of that mismatch. I watch most of the Western Conference Playoff. Just because I didn't watch a embarrassments series doesn't make me any less of basketball fan. What the hell is a definition of a "true basketball fan" anyways. Im a fan and have been for 20 years of my life.

Lakers forward Trevor Ariza is doubtful for the start of the playoffs after a CT scan this morning showed that a broken bone in his right foot still had not fully healed.

Ariza, however, was approved to increase his running on an anti-gravity treadmill from 70% to 80% of his body weight this week. He will increase it to 90% next week.

An official timetable for his return was not provided by the team.

Ariza has been out since Jan. 20. The Lakers end the regular season Tuesday against Sacramento and begin the playoffs either April 19 or, more likely, April 20.

Ariza is the second Laker in as many days to receive unfavorable medical news.

Center Andrew Bynum is also doubtful for the start of the playoffs after a knee specialist in New York did not clear him to begin practicing. Bynum has been out since Jan. 13 because of a left-knee injury.

Someone who'll watch any game whenever they have a chance, whether it effects their team or not. ESPECIALLY the league championship game, even if it was obvious the Spurs would crush.

I wont watch any game just because its a game. I guess Im not a true basketball fan. Thank god I have better things to do then watching over 200+ games a season. You must have alot of time on your hands being a true basketball fan.
