Lamar Miller- 5th in NFL rushing yard / 2nd in YPC

Running the same play is dumb. Running a completely different play from the same formation is how you make hay. You should be able to predict how the defensive coordinator will adjust to the old play, and if you can accurately guess at what adjustment they'll try to make then you can design your new play to destroy that adjustment.

Lazor learns and on 2nd and 1 against the Cheifs he got hammered by the fans for not running the ball. Things changed based on play calling. That's why I put the KC loss squarly on coaching.

if Tannehill would have played like that against KC we would have crushed them as well.

I'm not enamored with this play calling in the KC game running when we should pass and passing when we should run. It didn't give us a chance.

In the third qtr we're down by 6 21-15 and the D gets us a 3 and out after, Landry gets a 70 yd return and we cant get in the endzone and get a FG, and the D gets us a safety. So ST and D puts us back in the game and what do we do on offense after all that momentum? Abandon the run and pass on 1st down when the passing game wasn't working and pass on 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1.

To be honest, I think the run pass ratio against Oakland still wasn't good enough. That got masked because Tannehill was so effective passing. Him completing 14 passes in a row won't happen again. We need to run the ball some more.

for the past 2 weeks he has had huge holes that even I could get too. He doesn't break tackles and doesn't go for the long ball. It's still nice to see him in the top 5.

Also noticed he has 4 carries of 20+ yards which is tied for second in the league behind DeMarco Murray who has twice the carries and only 1 more run of 20+ yards. Good to see Miller turning it on. Perhaps seeing D Thomas cut after being a former 2nd round pick and the ability of Moreno had him fearing for his job too. The O-line is much improved over last year too so I'm sure that is helping. Hope he keeps it up.

He has had good holes. Most NFL backs could have good gains with what he is getting. Still, watching the game on TV doesn't do justice to the speed a which a back like Lamar Miller can turn a hole into a ten yard gain. Sure, his ability after contact and to miss tacklers at the second level is a little disappointing, but his ability to effortlessly turn a hole into a 10-20 yard gain is a pretty impressive skill in its own right.

Broken tackles are a lot sexier on TV, and the ideal back can break tackles in the backfield and still have good gains like Moreno did in week one, but Miller's lightning is still pretty exciting too.

I wonder what people would think of Miller if the Dolphins were feeding him like pretty much any other team in the league feeds an effective starter. He could have had 200 against the Chiefs.
