Larry Johnson Practicing with the First Team

I dunno, maybe a motivated LJ will be better than Ronnie or Ricky would have been for us, you never know. In his prime he was a much better back then Ronnie Brown ever was.

I like the addition of Larry Johnson, he is a big back and he can carry the work load if needed, but I think the fins brought him in to spell Reggie and Daniel to give them a breather and especially for short yardage and goal line situations. Good thread by the way.

If the offense is planning to carry the ball 30 times a game, they can have 12 carries for Bush, 12 for Thomas and 6 for LJ, which makes a lot of sense... Keep guys fresh

I think it's significant because I feel like this team is going to do the same old bull**** we had to deal with the past two years, take away carries from the guy who's hot. There were lots of times Ronnie was feeling it and Sparano would put him on the sides and give it to Ricky or Ricky was feeling it and he would take Ricky out and put Ronnie back in. I hated that ****. I want our best player to be out there as much as he can, and as of right now that's Reggie Bush. Only times Reggie should not be the primary running back is at situational goal line plays, or after a huge gain to catch a breather, or at 3rd down plays where we probably have no shot of converting, or when he's on the slot with DT as the running back.

If they give the ball to Reggie more than 250 times this year he will probably die. The most carries he ever got was 157 and he racked up 587 yards for a 3.6 average. If he get 15 carries a game he will probably be gone by week 8.

People are really overreacting with daniel thomas, in my opinion hes doing fine out there. Sparano is going to push him to get better thats what a coach is suppose to do but im sure sparano is pleased at hows hes done so far with the holes hes gotten but sparano wants to keep pushing him so improves everyday. If sparano tells thomas how great hes doing he is going to lay back and get comfortable doing average, a great coach keeps pushing the player, especially a rookie like thomas. Props to sparano. As for chad henne, he needs to worry about his own f-ing problems, he had 1 good game against the panthers and he thinks he can run his mouth alrdy? stfu henne and worry about yourself buddy, you are on the hot seat, not thomas.
Sparano may be comfortable with how Thomas is progressing as a rookie, but he nonetheless may be uncomfortable going into the season with him as the primary backup to and carry-sharer with a starter who has been injury-prone (Bush).

Personally I think it would be foolish to go into the season with Thomas in that role if he was doing anything short of looking amazing in the preseason, and he's not looking amazing. He's looking okay, and on-schedule developmentally, but not good enough to be the primary backup to Bush, with Bush's injury history.

I think you can bet that Larry Johnson was brought in to be the guy in the role Thomas has been in so far during the preseason, with Thomas's being demoted to the "Kory Sheets" role.

And if Johnson doesn't make it, I think we'll find that someone else is brought in, and Thomas is still in the "Kory Sheets" role.

1st team, that's great! I hope he tears it up and makes everyone eat crow. How can you root against a guy who plays for your team?

well i haven't seen anything from thomas this kid has shown me zip he is not running hard we traded up and gave up alot to get this guy i just dont understand why not go more with a proven back like mark ingram.thomas was a converted qb only played rb 2 yrs i think to say he might be a project is a stretch and in the 2nd rd wow ingram by the way has been looking preety darn good with those saints so dont want to hear oh he is a rookie.

Like i said on a post yesterday..Reggie bush is not considerd a "starting" Rb to them. And with the sheets cutting and lex not doing anything the 2 years the dolphins had him..They needed another RB thaits gonna get minutes.Maybe not big minutes but about 10-15..And thats why LJ is important to the roster cause they need another RB that can get bush/thomas rest..LJ is not a 4 or 5th RB.

They are doing this to work in the rookie slowly. Midway through the season Larry is finished and the rookie is ready. I have spoken this into existence.
