Lazor using Egnew as a WR more

I am really going to hate it when the Dolphins finally cut Egnew. After all, how are we going to be reminded of how bad Jeff Ireland was as a GM in the second and third rounds of the draft if we don't have his worse mistakes around to ridicule. If Egnew isn't on the team how are we going to be able to remind all of the Ireland fan-boys who spent six years on this site worshiping every draft pick Ireland ever made that their judgement of the man was totally, completely and utterly wrong.

I say keep Egnew on the roster and let him continue to waste space on the bench.

Don't worry as long as you don't get cut from here. There is no chance that anyone here will forget

I just can't shake the stupid lost look he had on his face in the hard knocks series.. I'm tryin, but I can't!

Yep, and people here wonder why he doesn't get a chance, it's hard a look at a man in the eye who's that stupid and trust them on the field.

Doesn't matter what kind of talent you have, if the coaches don't trust your ability to think and do then proper thing on the field, you don't play. Plain and simple.

if hes 260 plus lbs still this is a joke...

I don't know what you have against the guy. You've been dogging him hard! Unfairly, more times than not IMO. Honestly, makes me wonder have you ever really watched the guy?

My friend plays for the Texans. He was a 4th round pick, had 1 reception in his first two seasons, and he wasn't a prototypical TE.

He got a chance to settle in and had 80 receptions over next two years and Houston resigned him for another 3 years.

My point is some guys take some time to develop, carve out a role. I think Egnew can have a better year 3. He was good in win against New England.

I like trying him in a purely pass-catching role to see what he can do, because as things stand he is likely to be cut.

However, with the fast paced approach Lazor has, Egnew is going to need to be up to speed with the playbook. That has been an issue.

I hope egnew continues to improve. He is much more athletic than either lynch or Sims. If he continues to develop he offers this offense a dimension that lynch and Sims can't duplicate.

Sims needs to improve his blocking or he will be the odd man out come final cuts. Lynch is a near carbon copy of the the player Sims was supposed to be.

Bottom line is we need more production from the te position than we got last year. I don't care who steps up, as long as someone does.

child please...if they were gonna make this guy into a glorified wr and try to mimick aaron hernandez in new england which was their best chance for success with the kid from the get go...to try and create a poor mans hernanadez they should have never gotten him up to over 260 lbs when the kid wasn't ever sudden to begin with...he's been a one speed player since he came in the league was the same in college a product of the soft system even in mizzou...if anything they should have told him to get back down to his like sophomore year weight more in the 240 range where he would get some of his suddenness back...been saying it for years

the guys upside at 260 plus lbs is a bottom of your 53 man roster tight end...always has been...if you are ok with that with 3rd round picks well you probably liked the drafting job jeff ireland did as well...

and i've watched every snap the guys taken in the pros boss...seen every rep where he couldn't even beat 3rd string in preseason man to man coverage with any consistency...and you guys expect this bloated one speed tight end to defeat 1st string level coverage and make plays in real games??? ha ha...good luck with that

not at 260 plus lbs...this jimmy graham stuff that a good poster has put up ...pretty funny...graham dominates the opposition mismatch wise...this kid will NEVER EVER mirror that

if you want to flex this guy you're wasting your time at 260 plus...at least have him drop the weight give up the attempt to make him an in line tight end and try and get more bang for your buck with a rocked up finesse wr who can work zones and find holes in them and pretty much his production be a product of the offense provided by the soft coverage he would see etc in space...

Like Hoops said if he didn't lose any weight I think he'll really struggle getting separation. I would hope Lazor is putting him in this position early in camp to see if he can handle the responsibility. If not I could see the Fins looking at other options, possibly Finley or Keller if he's healthy. Lazor appears to me as a coordinator who will want an upgrade if hes not happy with the players he has. Hickey also looks to be a GM who would listen to his coaching staff and try to get an upgrade as well. Unlike Ireland who basically seemed to make some moves only when he saw fit.

That's a pretty radical concept. I think that you nailed it. Ireland wouldn't listen to Philbin's concerns about Jonathan Martin and his desire to upgrade by trading a draft pick for Branden Albert. It's pretty ironic how it all played out.

Clay, Egnew, Sims, Lynch doesn't sound too bad.

Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Landry, Matthews, and Egnew might sound ok too. Granted, that's a bit of a stretch but switching his position to WR6 gets to use him based on packages where we need that big body WR presence, keeps using him on ST, and keeps 3 TEs in Clay, Sims, and new guy Lynch.

More than likely he'll be cut but I could be on board for this.

People still hoping he turns into something worth keeping...when coaches start playing around with a players role...they are most likely on the way out.

The guy has had 7 receptions in 2 years and has done little else. This is a pretty valid reason to dog him

Egnew has all the talent you could ask out of a pass catching tight end. I think he we will be huge for us this year. . Lazor will use him the way he should be used and yes he will make the team, he is way to explosive to have on the bench..

It was a stupid look, but get over it Danny. He was a rookie at the time and was struggling to learn the system a short time after being drafted. He was uncomfortable being publicly embarrassed by Sherman in front of the cameras.
That is the danger of Hard Knocks. It makes for great TV viewing but we should be fair and consider Michael Egnew on his merits now, not his facial expressions from 2 years ago. Please have an open mind and let Lazor make his assessment.

Mike Sherman used Egnew as a fullback, and Lazor wants to use him as a WR.....I almost feel sorry for Egnew.
