League Sources: Daboll Favorite For Dolphins Job

Wow. I remember when we ran Daboll out of town with pitchforks and torches the first time he was here.
What did he do? Oh yeah, offensive coordinator. He's still an offensive coordinator that we all want to make be the new HC of the team.
Awesome.

Again…why is Ken Dorsey leaving Allen and Buffalo OC spot to come to Miami? What reasonable person would do that?

How badly would Ross have to overpay him to do that?

Not saying it outweighs what you said, but Dorsey obviously has ties to Miami being that he was the last one to win a national championship here.

How about Kentucky?

My wife is from Kentucky and her parents were double 1st cousins.
For the record, double first cousins occur when a brother in family "A" marries a sister in family "B" AND her brother from family "B" marries a sister from family "A".

First cousins anyway you look at it.

My wife could name over 50 first cousins (her family had BIG families)
I had something like 5 first cousins. My mom was an only child. She kept on telling me all the older guys in her family were my "uncles", when in truth they were my cousins. It took me a while to understand lineal relationships after getting a line of crap like that - LOL.

It’s hilarious how all of a sudden Josh Allen was always this amazing QB and Daboll had nothing to do with his development, but at the same time McDaniel seems to be 100% responsible for the 49ers offensive success, even though he doesn’t even call the plays.

McDaniel might end up being a great hire, don’t get me wrong… but if you’re looking at objective, quantifiable reasons to hire someone, Daboll trumps McDaniel every day of the week.
I disagree with your assessment of the Bills situation. What made Josh Allen great…..And still does….Is the OL that gives him a clean pocket on 80% or more of his drop backs and the weapons he has. He was nothing until they traded for Diggs. Look at the pass blocking on that OL. For **** sake he had 9.63 seconds to throw on one of his touchdowns against the Pats 2 weeks ago. Tua didn’t have 9.63 seconds in any quarter this year. So…To be frank….I don’t think Daboll’s “Brilliant” play calling has anything to do with Josh Allen becoming the QB he has. I attribute that to a VERY good OL. Excellent weapons on the inside and outside. A better than average running game and a ****ing defense that gets you multiple more possessions per game than he would normally have. Add that to his scrambling ability and his strong arm and you could call any play in the book and be successful. Daboll or no Daboll.

Like I said though…..You may be right and I maybe wrong. Daboll might come here and be the best thing since Shula.

I like some others also prefer McDaniels over Daboll. I think Daboll will be a mistake but obviously none of us have a crystal ball. Give me the guy that’s been under Shanahan and that knows how to get creative offensively. You can bet your @ss well have success running the football if McDaniels was to be the man here. Like others have said I think he’s a star in waiting.

I just don’t get a good feel with Daboll. I’m always weary of guys like that bc of the star QB. It’s easy to call plays when you’ve got a freight train back their at QB that will make any and all play calls look great. It sounds like Daboll is going to be the guy so obviously I’ll get behind and support him and give him a chance. But if Daboll is the guy then that tells us all this is all about Tua which I certainly understand but at the same time I still have my doubts. I just don’t get a good feeling with Daboll. It feels like the “safe” hire or at least the more known hire instead of McDaniels. We’re rolling the dice either way but let’s shoot for the stars and hire the more creative guy in McDaniels.

But we’re Miami and like most choices we make it seems like it’s fate that we’ll screw it up.

It sounds like he's front runner for giants tho. And I don't know if it's true, profootballnetwork or such has something about daboll concerned about Tua's ceiling. That doesn't sound good for Tua as well as what Grier or Ross are hoping for. I think daboll would bring the best out of Tua, but if he's able to help qbs but feels not too much ceiling for tua, then that's a problem.

If he has confidence in himself, I doubt that's his fear. My guess is that the biggest factor is whether he (and his family) wants to live in NY or Miami.

I think fear is a strong word, but good/great head coaches are meticulous about creating the circumstances for success. I can't imagine they would not consider all of those circumstances if they have options available to them.

I highly doubt McDaniel would be able to assemble a good staff of assistants on both sides of the ball. I also question his ability to lead a locker room of NFL players. as a head coach.

For starters, getting out of Buffalo is reason enough for anyone. Plus, Dorsey played at U of Miami and maybe he really likes South Florida.

And if Ross wants to make him the highest paid OC in the league he easily can.
The Dolphin thing to do would be to hire Daboll and then give Dorsey more money than Daboll to be the OC.
