Lets talk about Brent Grimes.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I don't think there is any way that Grimes signs a deal for $6-$8 million. As of right now he is playing like a top 5 corner in the NFL. Someone will definitely be willing to pay more than that. He will probably sign a 3 year deal anywhere from $8-10 million per year with $14-18 million guaranteed. Even at 30 he is a rare talent in the NFL and people will pay for that. One thing is for sure is that he will be a Fin next year. They tagged Soliai for over $12 million/year when they had the cap space and I see Grimes in the same boat.

You may be correct they may have to tag him..the tag was like $11 in 2013 for a corner. If the per year price gets to high I don't think (Ireland if still here) would agree to that type of a 3yr deal for 30 year old player. (maybe tops about $8m a year?). Would hope we could keep the tag open for one of DL players if needed.

Fouts said Grimes hasn't allowed a TD yet this year. I didn't realize that. Surely he will be in the Pro Bowl, no? If we have to cut Patterson to keep Grimes and Carroll we should - and get one of our young picks into the action. Also, Clemons is expendable IMO. Gotta keep Soliai and McKinnie for one more year as I can't see having two new tackles again next year.

How is Clemons expendable?

I think the fact that he is 30 and is only a year off a major surgery is going to keep him away from making top dollar for a CB. Grimes will end up with a max of 8-8.5 million IMO. 6-8 is fair for a 30 yr old corner. I dont see Grimes making 10+ next year. I mean its possible, but i dont think he will.

Clemons has played his Butt-Off this season and has been very consistent. The same can't be said for R Jones. I knew we should have never given him that kinda money based on one really good year.

Bring Clemons back FA

Just an update to that list Binns was actually waived injured..

Resign Grimes/Soliai/Jerry before free agency. I know Jerry isn't great, but keep consitency on the interior. Brenner/Pouncy/Jerry. Figure out the tackles in FA and draft. Resign those 3 before FA, and then go from there. Match whatever Clemons gets in FA, it shouldn't be too much. Give Keller another one year low-money deal. Then you don't have to worry about TE's or receivers in the draft, your set at safety and linebacker and DE. Bring in a good tackle in FA and draft one high. Use the rest of your picks to draft depth/future starters and maybe a running back in the 2nd or 3rd round. If you do that and if Tanny takes another step forward next year, you should be in the top-10.

It just sucks that our front office gets a bad wrap for not rewarding players who deserve it....

Then the one time we give a guy a big contract extension before we need to its Reshad Jones, and he regresses to a barley startable safety..... sigh....

He is my favorite player and the first jersey I will buy next year WHEN he gets re-signed.

my first thought on Grimes cost was 9-10 mil/year with nice signing bonus.

Clemmons is expendable. He has not played for a contract IMO. He has played for another one year deal IMO.

I was for resigning Jerry before, but now that Brenner is stepping up, it may be time to just draft two G's and see what comes out. If Philbin likes Jerry, he will get resigned IMO because he believes in keeping family together. Less coaching needed and a certain reliability week to week means a lot.

McKinney I am all for resigning. But they may go balls to walls in draft and go young. It may depend on what McKinney looking for.

Got to lock up Grimes. Priority #1.

Knowing this front office, we will let Grimes walk and extend the injury prone Patterson...

I think ur Antonio brown stats are off, I don't believe he get rec yards for the lateral play I could be wrong

You obviously don't KNOW this front office. We don't extend injury prone players like patterson.

The fireland crowd really loses credibility and respect with uninformed comments like these
