in response to thedayafter....
I have yet to read anything substancial that backs this position. In fact more published information gives Frerotte the clean advantage.
just because you haven't read it means it hasn't been said? the only thing that really matters is what saban says and he has not given frerotte the "clean advantage."
There is clear separation indicated by Frerotte getting the reps with the first unit.
so much seperation, infact, that not only are gus and aj both listed with the first team on the latest depth chart, but we have a game saturday, today is wednesday and saban still won't say who is starting. his comments in yesterday's pc were "it's a day to day thing right now." i'm confused as to how you translate that into seperation.
In regards to AJ "locking on" he continues to do this because his brain is not processing information fast enough.
thank you, doctor. is this legit, or did you stay at a holiday inn express last night?
Frerotte demonstrated the ability to produce when given the opportunity and some of that production was exceptional.
yep, 2 years ago he started games against detroit and san fransisco and had a career game vs the 49ers. put all your eggs in that basket for sure.
Again your position is flawed as you presume Frerotte has not progressed.
i'm not presuming anything. im analyzing the fact that that he has been in the league for 12 years and has a career passer rating of 76, a 2004 preseason passer rating of 75 (no regular season stats to go on) and 74 rating so far in 2005. call it what you preceive it to be, but that is not progression.
The practical thing to do for the offense was to bring in Frerotte as a proven producer.
again, career passer rating of 76. career completions under 55%. career td/int ratio of 1.16/1. the only thing that is proven about that production is it sucks.
Frerotte clearly proved to be better at running the offense.
so clear, that again saban has not named him the starter 3 days before the game, and says the competition is very close and a "day to day" thing.
It is Feeley who has failed to develop. then you say It takes on average 3 years to develop ANY productive QB in ANY system in the NFL.
do i even need to respond to this contradiction?
To state it "wastes" a year of QB development has so many holes in it that it would take to long to post.
ok let's start frerotte, and say we don't make the playoffs and get a new starting quarterback in the offseason. taking into consideration "it takes on average 3 years to develop ANY productive QB in ANY system in the NFL," how would you then define this season relative to the quarterback position? i'd call it a waste.
QB in 2006 no matter what or who does what this season.
CB in 2009 no matter what or who does what before then!
For you to even have "playoff" asperations shows you have a lack of fundamental knowledge of the team and talent.
i thought it was pretty evident in my original post that i wanted feeley to start because i do not have playoff aspirations for this team this year.
I honestly don't care who starts at QB as long as they give us an opportunity to compete... IMO it's time to start thinking long term with Saban and the team.
and last but certainly not least, these two statements combined make about as much sense as tits on a bull.
if you're going to trash my post, atleast do it with some substance and make it a challenge for me to respond.
