Locker room interviews tell you something

I would be interested to hear Pouncey and Odrick's reaction to the voicemails. They must have heard similar things considering they were rookies under Incognito and are also both of mixed race like Martin.

It was interesting to hear Channing Crowder's take on all this on QAM. I was surprised that he didn't seem that offended by the "half-n" comment, he actually seemed to be on Incognito's side, even though he acknowledged he went overboard. Crowder was basically saying that Incognito was indeed the lockerroom bully, but in the dumb lugnut kind of way, and that if a player stood up to him, he would leave them alone and then go looking for the next weakest link. He cited an example with Austin Spitler who eventually thumped Incognito after being bullied by him for awhile, and Richie never touched him after that.

The picture is becoming clearer. Richie is a meathead, and his schtick was to bully rookies until they stood up to him or he found another target. But the team seemed to recognize this and just chalked it up to a prankster, "bro" personality, and seemingly liked him as a teammate.

Martin was a different kind of cat, with Ivy-league pedigree and uncomfortable with the dumb jock mentality around him. I can relate to Martin in a sense, as I too hung out with "bro" types on occasion and was never comfortable around them. That being said, Martin approached this in the WORST possible way from a "football brotherhood" perspective. If he was uncomfortable confronting Incognito, he should have dealt with this with Philbin and the staff once he "snapped" in the lunch room. By ditching the place once he finally had enough, and launching napalm over the organization, he violated the unspoken rules of the locker room. For this reason, I don't see any team signing Martin after this fiasco.
Really well said. If only the goons on espn tv saw it or at least mildly stated it this way.

Ok you guys make a very debatable argument and I know for sure I'm not the only person on this forum who thinks he's racist?amirite?
I'm not gonna lie Ive said the n word maybe 100 million times in my life and Im greek, and ive even listened to johnny rebel songs and found it amusing,am i racist? no because ive slept with multiple black women and that makes me eligible to use the word however i want(this is just my opinion ur more than welcome to disagree)

i also am a huge hip-hop music fan and i love predominantly black athlete sports, now to be frank,i would say theres 2 different kinds of black people...you have blacks and you have n*****s,im not racist to black people but i will not lie i sort of dislike n*****s..idk if that makes sense but i dont wanna say anything too technical or detailed and get the banstick lol

Of all the comments, it's the Karlos Dansby one that makes me wonder. Karlos Dansby doesn't like the Dolphins organization. He was never afraid to speak his mind when he was here, publicly, and loudly.

Why would he take up for Incognito here? This whole situation is just weird. There is more here than "Richie is Hitler."

It really does make you wonder. I wonder if the media is going to examine this possible angle to the story.

All of john Wayne gacys neighbors thought he was a great guy too. An extreme example but you see the point.

Your fellow teammates that you spend not only the entire season with but a good portion of the offseason with are not the same as neighbors. Keep believing what the agenda driven media want to force feed you though.

Are you trolling, or are you being serious with this crap? You've slept with black women, so makes you eligible to use the word???? How did those women feel when you called them that to their faces?? I cant even tell if you are being sarcastic or not here?? You like blacks, but dislike n*****s?? And then you dig up some pic that's far from racist, and use it as possible proof hes a racist, when the racist here is really you after this crap you've just posted?

Some more info..

SI senior writer Jim Trotter spoke with several players and front office members who expressed displeasure with Martin’s decision to turn the texts and voicemails over to the NFL and Dolphins.

- interesting that of the half dozen personnel people/players i've spoken with, all feel martin should've handled this man to man.—

- Said one personnel man (who's not alone): "Instead of being a man and confronting him, (Martin) acted like a coward and told like a kid."—

- Also: "You handle it in house (fight, handle it on the field, joke about it, etc.) and keep it moving."—

- The comments I tweeted are not representative of ALL execs or players, active and retired. But they are reflective of a culture that exists.—

Great breakdown.

I find this sad; it shows that Martin doesn't have toughness, and now incognitos name is being dragged through the mud when all he was really trying to do was help Martin become tougher, like a good teammate.

When I see weasels like shefter who have never been on a football team start pontificating about this my skin crawls.

The pussification of America, the pussification of the NFL.

Between this and all these terrible player safety rules swinging games on ticky tack personal fouls, it's making me lose my interest in the NFL, and I've always been a hardcore fan

possible suspect? too me after what we know now its a racist remark.....u dont see it?

You're joking right? Please tell me you're joking....

Upon further review you are not joking....and we have yet another new guy on the forum who makes next to zero sense.

Just maybe, don't you think he could've made Martin tougher and a better player by teaching him better blocking techniques, etc, etc, etc... instead of calling him a half n****, and threatening, him and his family??? Positive reinforcement, and knowing that your teammates got your back, and not threatening you, might have been a more productive tactic.

Juat a thought I guess??

Fighting is handling it like a man? Lost me at being a man and confronting him. Incognito is a BIG GUY. Who knows what happened, maybe Martin did say "c'mon man cut it out" and Incognito still persisted. We don't know everything. But Incognito, if what he said was true on the voicemails and texts, was not a man to begin with.

Why are they're not any Martin supporters in that locker room????? Quiter, soft, went outside the locker room and the organization to complain?
