Long vs Albert

Thought he took less money and chose to pay more in taxes to join the Rams.

He did, and yet many Dolphin fans still choose to believe we let him go.

That said, I see Long as injury prone and not someone you can rely upon being there come playoff time anyway. How many seasons has he finished healthy lately?

Based on everything we know today, I am taking Albert over Long. Sure Long is making $8.5 million a year compared to the reported $10 million a year for Albert.

I would say Albert's "injuries" are less significant right now than what Long is going through. Long might not even be playing at the start of the 2014 season.

we need quality dependable back ups as well.because there are always injuries to linemen. Pay all that money and have a catastrophy happen again. sign all you can. also with all the underclassmen in this draft there should be plenty of undrafted free agents and some should be better than years past due to 70 extra kids in the draft pool so to speak.

We were probably better off not letting go of our 1st overall pick, then letting him go and having to pay albert more and lose a LT last season. Long only got injured playing with the rams, who knows if he would have got injured playing here last year. I hear talk about Long being injury prone and missing a lot of games, but I don't think he missed more than a couple every season with us, which isn't bad.

He played hurt, and his performance suffered. But he was still good. And he's better in the run game.

Injuries do happen, and Long and Albert both got hurt last year, it's just that Long's was severe. There's no guarantee what happened to Long would have happened here. When I look back on it, it was a business and medical decision, it could have gone either way, but as it turned out, it backfired, they really didn't have anyone waiting in the wings who was good enough. We ended up overpaying, anyway, and last year we almost gave up a draft pick on top of it. At least the Chiefs have somebody else when Albert walks, we only had Martin, and now we have nobody.

long was done when the morono decided to play him in an exhibition game and got him hurt for no reason...not saying that couldn't have happened in the regular season but it didn't...

Yep, thats when it started.

He played though a lot of his injuries, which most likely made things worse for him.
There is a thin line between ballsy and stupid afterall.

Long had problems with speedy edge rushers.

Abraham and Williams had his number to be specific.

If Albert cost 11 million I am ok with your plan B, take a LT high in the draft resign McKinney for 3-4 million per and coach em up......

Sign McKinnie to play guard and as a backup OT. He's a mountain of a man and has some time left at guard, imo.

Albert. Long shredded his knee, torn ACL and MCL, in week 15. Good luck with that Fisher.

Exactly. Given the injury, you have to say Albert. With a healthy Long, however, yeah, I think Jake would've been the guy.

Let's get philosophical now. You could argue that since Long got injured with the Rams, if he had stayed in Miami he wouldn't have got injured, as that line of possibility would've been erased and never existed. Or you could argue that his karma demanded an injury which would have happened no matter where he was.

Bottom line, if he had stayed he might not have got injured. We simply don't know.
