I mean it's great that he can snap the ball 39 yards and all but distance is not something I care all that much about from my long snapper. Accuracy, timing and blocking. No doubt the kid is athletic.

Someone just needs to make sure this kid knows to polish Denny's shoes, get his gatorade and have his car washed at the end of every practice. The godfather deserves the respect.

It’s a world record.

It’s a world record.

Great.

Again, it's an impressive feat for sure. I for one just don't care if my long snapper can hike it out of the stadium....that's not what he needs to do in game action. He may be perfectly qualified to replace Denny when that time comes, I'm not being down on him at all. I just don't know anything about him and his ability to snap the length of the field doesn't make me want to sign him.

Let's see his accuracy, how he blocks and how often he contributes down field on specials. That's the stuff I care about. Then we can start talking about replacing Sir Denny.

nothing wrong with bringing this kid in for TC......I don't think this is the first time either. Lots of players and with 2 kickers and probably 2 punters you get them all work

Hence, why I created this thread...

unloading John Denney would lower the rosters "average age" by what ... 2-3 years!

JK. I know it would be prob be more like .305666 years

I remember back when Denny got the job years ago. Yes, I'm THAT old. Everyone was up in arms that the venerable Ed Perry was cut for the cap savings, and this whipper snapper rookie free agent was brought in to replace him. Everybody freaked. And Denny wasn't perfect his rookie year. But he learned. We aren't far from repeating that cycle. Maybe this year, maybe next. But Denny has been a damn good LS for us.

Yeah I remember, it's all coming back to me now. The major concern was Denny is just a long snapper specialist, he played no other position, while Perry was a tight end first and a long snapper second. People were upset because they preferred Perry's versatility over Denny just being a long snapper specialist; and they did not want a long snapper taking up an extra roster spot when that spot could be used to sign someone else at a more critical position.

Hindsight, in my opinion, they made the right choice.
