It's been a tough start to the season for Fiedler, so much so that comparing his statistics to last season is not as useful as comparing them to the ones the oft-criticized Lucas put up in six games last season.

Fiedler: 95-of-167, 56.9 percent, 1,115 yards, 6 TDs, 7 INTs, 71.8 rating.

Lucas: 92-of-160, 57.5 percent, 1,045 yards, 4 TDs, 6 INTs, 69.9 rating.

Doesn't that leave out this important statistic:

Fiedler 4-2

Lucas 2-4

??

Well we should EASILY be 6-0 right now, so much for that 4-2 record huh?

The difference is that the defense didn't play historically well during that stretch of games Lucas was the QB.

The only reason we're not 1-5 right now is our defense and the reason we're not 6-0 is JF.

Let me get this straight, you are blaming our 2-4 record under Lucas, on the defense??

The most profound statement in the article!

"It's like I've got the plague or something," Lucas said of his job search.

Sure, Lucas sucked the big one, however, I contended before that it wasn't entirely his fault much like the pro Jay boys say this isn't Jay's fault. Well, say what you will, but Lucas simply was NOT prepared to play last year. he got no snaps in practice to speak of and when he got the call, he just was not ready. He started out about as bad as it gets, but as the games and snaps went on, he did improve, much better than Jay has overall in the same amount of time. ie, the GB gm last yr was all ours, had them back on their heels with the early lead. Then two fumbles by carter and Konrad on B2B possessions killed us. But was that Lucas' fault?? I wish somebody would play that old Chubby Checker classic for us............. the TWIST !!

some stats like that do not lie and make 4-2 vs 2-4 irrevelant, but the OL has not given Ricky the same lanes they game him for Lucas' stint

Wannstedt said part of Fiedler's problem is inconsistency on the offensive line, which could lead him to replace guard Jamie Nails with Mark Dixon as early as this week and put Seth McKinney back into a rotation with Tim Ruddy at center

and a fiew of Jay's 7 INTs (which kill passer ratings) were either tipped, long passes or hail marys

This is incorrect.

In fact, the Dolphins have been providing their backups with more reps than the average NFL team for a couple of years now.

Including Lucas.

Dude, it's physically impossible for me to drop down to a level where we can communicate with any success but I'll try and take it slow for ya.

The defense has been literally saving Jay's a$$ and job so far.

They didn't do that for Lucas, nor did I expect them to.

But, you fanatics expect that for JF don't ya?

?

"Miami Dolphins starting QB Jay Fiedler was in Pittsburgh to have his surgically repaired hip examined. He then flew back to Miami in time to participate in the afternoon practice session after he received a clean bill of health. All systems are go for Fiedler to start the Dolphins' first exhibition game.

Fiedler's clearance is welcome news to backup QB Ray Lucas. Lucas recently acknowledged that he has developed a sore elbow from the extra throwing reps he's received due to Fiedler's recovery. Head coach Dave Wannstedt believes the problem will dissipate as the preseason wears on.

"He's done more throwing than he's ever done in his life," said Wannstedt, who has rested Lucas for some practices. "Once we get out of training camp and into the one-a-day (practices), it won't be a factor at all. Ray's a tough guy."

The main difference is that Fiedlers mistakes has not caused the Dolphins losses unlike Lucas. He 's play doesn't win games for the fins either.

Fiedler is not an elite qb, but you cannot deny the fact that he is one hell of a warrior. Whether or not that is enough to take the fins all the way is another question. He is neither here or there. For the fins to go all the way, your D has to perform like the Ravens team that won the sb or the Bucs last year.

Fiedlers major downside is his cap hit next year and once again , his injury/injuries.

IMO, Griese's no better talent wise. He doesn't have the arm to stretch the field that Norv's system requires either. griese however has had tendencies of blowing games for the Bronco's. It will be interesting to see how the players react to Grise back there as opposed to Fiedler who has had the confidence of his teammates .

Justa perspective from a bills fan.

Not it's not. Lucas didn't but they are now. Matter of fact, why has Griese been getting more snaps with the 1st team than is customary?
