Malzahn

I think he will be successful at whatever level he coaches at. If he wants to jump to the pros and we're not interested because of Joe Philbin, I think that's a mistake. Hiring a guy like Malzahn is a gamble you have to make.

Jim Harbaugh all over again.

The more I read about Malzahn the more I'm convinced that the guy is just really, really, really good at being a football coach.

Which means he'll never come here. I think the last genuinely great coach we got was Nick Saban, and that was doomed to failure because he came packaged with a genuinely terrible general manager: Nick Saban.

Gus Malzahn will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER be a coach in the NFL.

The NFL would not ever even be on his radar screen in any way. Nor would any NFL team seek him out. His career trajectory, his mentality and his persona is so far removed from the NFL standard that it would be a disaster, and the guy is intelligent enough to realize that.

I am pulling for Auburn all the way (because I hate alabama and ref$u and want both embarrassed to the uttermost degree and an Auburn win would do that) but I am not by any means on the Gus Bus.

The problem with that guy is that he is the greatest coach ever. Just ask him.

An ego that is a perfect seamless fit for the place he is at right now.

How so?

Cleveland apparently has him currently as the #1 guy they want. It would be shocking if he's not an NFL coach within the next 3 years. What about his personality do you think would keep him from being successful in the league?

Care to elaborate? I have been reading up on him and haven't ran across info regarding what you've stated. All the articles I've read players absolutely love him. I'd be interested to find out more.

I just think the offense he runs, his specialty of the no huddle offense would be awesome for this team. We always talk of Tannehill playing his best in the hurry up, so putting him in Malzahn's offense is intriguing. Heck he even wrote a book on it: "Hurry Up No Huddle – An Offensive Philosophy"

To be fair, the report is that Cleveland was interested in him.

I don't think anyone but a desperate retread or a guy who might not get any other opportunity would take taht job right now.

Those saying Ross is too dumb to realize should go back years ago when we almost hired harbaugh. He's not dumb, he just hasn't been in position to hire a top talet coach. With the players we have now, along with the salary cap, there is no reason Ross should miss on malzahn, if he wants him.

I'd love to have him, but I think he'll remain in college for at least a few more season, and I wouldn't be surprised if he just decides to stay in college. If he does look to the NFL, I he'll wait for a better situation than Miami can - currently - offer him. Again, I'd love it. He'd be #1 on my list, but I'd be shocked to see him show any interest.

I'm wondering if Malzahn ****ed this guys wife. She musta rode the Gus Bang Bus. Comes in flinging **** and bounces when he's asked to explain.

Miami is a - plug a good coach in and win- situation. think about this... charles clay came from tulsa, right? He was raised by gus malzahns offense and was extremely successful in it. Ryan tannehill has had early success running no huddle offense and has athleticism to run his offense. mike wallace takes 8 out of the box. miami has 4 good receivers, dual threat tightend, and speed back. they also have a center who can play zone or power. take into the account that Ben Tate (played under malzahn at auburn) is a free agent. people, the pieces are in place for malzahn to come in and have instant success.. Its up to ross to understand that and go after the next big thing.

As much as I'd love for Ross to make a run at Malzahn, I still think the #1 biggest problem facing this franchise is the continued employment of Jeff Ireland. Six years later, how the **** does he still have the job? It's insane.
