Mando: Ross' Request for Review Puts People on Notice

Martin's legal maneuvers are slash and burn...scorched earth policy.

Most players just seem to be saying what they need to, to deflect any attention of anyone, including, lawyers, NFLPA, richie, Martin, cosches, etc.

I know it's what I would do.

Cogs needs banned from the league. Martin needs welcomed back. Protect whistle blowers!

For the record, I still want to see more information come out. I am not convinced of Jonathan Martin's motives in this still. However, there is such a **** storm that I do not think in the end the Joe Philbin, the coaching staff and Jeff Ireland survive. There is too much heat.

Jonathan Martin is certainly destroying more people off of the field then he did on it.

and all over being called half-ni**** and not having a real mamma

Player support for Cog shows that this was hazing which most vets participate in.

Martin should have handled the matter himself by punching Cog in the nose rather than running home to his Mommy with his tail tucked between his legs.

If you blame Ireland for anything it would be drafting the waste of life that is Jon Martin...

On the other hand Ross could be entirely sure that Philbin has his and the organization's bases covered, and simply wants the NFL to add its stamp of approval in that regard, as well, as a positive PR move.

I blame Joe is some regard to what has happened, but my opinion is changing...NO PLAYER is coming to Martin's defense or state that they saw anything. Also, no player is killing Incognito...white, black, young or veteran. Why?

My criticism of Joe now might be the immediate suspension of Incognito and what it does to the team getting rid of a popular guy. Joe listened to the media swell and lawyers I am sure. It is job at stake.
I agree - they are covering their arses. I agree with something you said in another thread - that Martin is trying to "fix" the locker room culture of the NFL by making an example here. Here is what I think for whatever it's worth (not much, I know!):

- Martin does not have mental issues
- Martin got into the NFL and discovered he didn't really want to be there
- Martin was subject to rookie hazing that is no different than what happens every year, on every club (not condoning it, just saying)
- Martin is a smart guy and thought about doing this for a long time - why else would he save texts and voicemails
- Incognito is not some racist monster that he is being made out to be; he is the class clown, pack leader when it comes to the pranks and hazing but he knows when too much is too much. Recall the scene on Hard Knocks where Egnew reads his own FB status, "I sh+t myself"?. Incognito said, "I was going to write something worse but I didn't want to embarass you too badly knowing your girlfriend would see it". My friends wouldn't have been so considerate! It's just one data point but it was a demonstration of compassion toward a rookie who they were trying to "get through to". Did the kid run to momma?
- Philbin/Ireland/Aponte/Ross/Jennifer Lopez/whoever - are doing what they think they have to do to quell this sh+tstorm. They don't even believe in what they are doing - this is the part that infuriates me the most. I would not have suspended Richie. In fact, if they are going to do that, they should suspend themselves as they are the ones accountable for the team's behavior and image
- Martin is being an opportunist here and trying to get as much money as he can - sorry but at this time I do not see him as a victim.

I reserve the right to flip-flop on my feelings toward Martin and Incognito as more is revealed but right now I think Martin is a total d_ckbag for doing this in the middle of the season. F him!

I don't even really blame him for drafting Martin, after all he was a pretty good tackle prospect. I do blame him relying on him to be our starting LT after his performance last season coupled with his known (supposedly) emotional issues. Ireland should have done whatever he could to prevent Martin from being the starting LT even if it meant overspending on someone else (McKinnie in offseason, trade for Albert, draft Lane Johnson). It was irresponsible for him to count on Martin and now his most important draft pick, Tannehill, is paying the price.

beware says shefty....this is going to get worse the man.....i mean the reactionist says. lol

Well, Richie Sr claims that Martin does have mental issues, is suicidal and abuses drugs. Might be sour grapes, or might be an insight usually not afforded us fans. If he's right, then you have a mentally disturbed gun-owning drug abuses with resentment and rage issues in a workplace environment. To me that's a "going postal" violent outbreak waiting to happen if true and grounds for kicking him to the curb with justification.

Now that there's a racial element, and those bozos on Monday Night Countdown are bloviating about that with missionary zeal, if you think one of the two extortionist, rabble-rousing, attn whoring reverends aren't circling above head looking for a way to insert themselves into this, you're likely being naive.

I haven't seen the Richie Sr comments - which thread are they in?

I am absolutely disgusted by the whole pile of crap. The only real answer is to cut them both. The lack of support for Martin from the team tells me this is all being blown out of proportion by him but the organization has to bow down to the pressure.

If Martin comes back to this team before Incognito I will not watch another game until Martin is gone.

Ireland created this mess. He is the most culpable. Philbin is a nice man, but this team needs a stronger leader. A complete cleansing of the staff is needed. Nothing cleanses like Fireland.
Bring on Billick, Cowher, anyone with some league wide respect. Let the coach pick the GM. That is how the team should be ran.

how....is this Ireland's fault? was he supposed to ask Martin if his mom was a prostitute?
