Mando's open letter to Philbin

Whether calculated or not, the message is sent that Failbin cannot step up and handle the uneasy parts. I can't stand this about him. It shows he is not accountable to his mistakes. He won't admit to them. It's your team coach, lead it.
True, but we now have a bigger problem. We have an owner who can not admit TO HIMSELF that he made a mistake hiring that Coach. What owner goes out of his way to praise a coach with a sub .500 record and a team in the middle of a horrible scandal? I think most of us will agree the Dolphins will not be a playoff team next season. And if they finish out of the playoffs, I am not so sure Failbin will be fired. If he was on such thin ice Ray Farmer or Cesario would be the GM today.

You want him to lead through the media? I'm pretty sure he's taking care of things like the draft, getting the new OC up to speed, and working with Hickey on developing the roster. Holding a presser something that's already been tried while offering no new info is just a waste of time, and imo has nothing to do with "leading men". I'd much rather him work on coaching than PR stunts.
Public perception is every bit tied to what goes on the field and off. This franchise has a sullied reputation, and like it or not, it's philbin's job to lead and restore that reputation both ON and OFF the field.

WHAT??????

Philbins job is to WIN!!!! you win and that takes care of on and off the field. When Miami was hot this past season what was all the media outlest saying.... Philbin is great. He should be up for coach of the year.. So on and so forth. Peopl just want Philbin to go out in te media to keep a none story going. No need for him to stand in front of the media to tell you/ me/ or anybody else what his plans are going forward.

Just win baby.

I agree that the task of restoring our reputation lies with Philbin, but how does holding a superficial press conference accomplish that? What Philbin should be doing to restore our rep is working on the draft, working with his new OC, and developing a roster with Hickey.

Not really, I'm not referring to his 'reason', but to the fact that he does.

"As Dr. Berman explained, attempting to develop a close friendship with an abusive person is a common coping mechanism exhibited by victims of abusive relationships." -Wells Report, pages 18-19; emphasis mine.

It was addressed. There's more there but I retyped what I thought was the most important line.

Martin's reaction was a "common" one. Bullying victims very often try to ingratiate themselves with their bully and engage in the behaviors in which the bully engages in the hope that they'll no longer be treated as a target. I know many here don't accept that, but there's loads of empirical evidence to back it up.

I told ya, soon as Ireland gone, Philbin, your up next my man.

Who comes after Philbin? Well, Mr. Ross is just an absolute bafoon. so that goes without saying.

Clean house! We need a new bunch to bash.

Move to San Antonion Mr. Ross!

Is that one of Jupiter's moons? Ballsy move by Goodell.

Should have cleaned house in the first place. Enough of the piecemeal nonsense.

you're fooling yourself if you think that his very reputation as a coach isn't sullied. You got an entire list of free agents that are looking at miami and seeing a mess and a head coach that doesn't know how to handle his own locker room. He looks weak. He looks like the guy who cares more about picking up trash off the floor, jettisoning his team leaders and putting people like richie in charge all strip club team.

You don't fix perception by hiding your head in the sand.

You know...if you want to read an article that wasn't written by a grown man on his period, read Omar's take on the report...im not a fan of Omar but he raises some really good points...

ZSOUNDS: awsome post. and i agree with everything you said. BUT, the hate level against philbin and hickey is nothing short of a phenomenon so dont expect to many around here to get anything out of it.

fans around the boards are intoxicated with hate. i have NEVER seen anything like this, not with wanny, feidler, saban, ricky, cam cameron, parcells, sparano, etc.... . hickey and philbin deserve much better than the current miami fan base.

I did not read the entire report becasue it is worthless in my eyes.. However, did the report mention how or if Wells interviewed the trainer to see what he had to say. Does Wells conclude that the trainer was being bullied becasue Martin thinks he was? did Wells ever speak to Pouncy and confront him with the things that Martin alleged he had done? I ask becaue there is always 2 sides to a coin.

For all we know the trainer gave incog just as much Sh*t that incog gave him. For all we know the trainer never felt threated and realized that incog was just fooling with him. For all we know incog prob bought the guy xmas and birthday gifts just to show his appreciation. For all we know the trainer could have pulled Incog aside and said hey man that was a little low and Incog apoligized and it never happened again. we dont know jack becasue the report is slanted and worthless and conducted by a guy that has no idea about relationships inside of a football locker room.

According to Barry Jackson's "cliff notes" version of the Wells Report. The assistant trainer was interviewed.
On December 7, 2012, the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey donned traditional Japanese headbands that featured a rising sun emblem (which the Assistant Trainer had given them) and jokingly threatened to harm the Assistant Trainer physically in retaliation for the Pearl Harbor attack. According to Martin, the Assistant Trainer confided in him that he was upset about the Pearl Harbor comments, finding them derogatory toward his heritage.

Well said “Martin and another player we interviewed both believed that the Assistant Trainer awkwardly laughed along with some of the racial insults.

"When interviewed about these matters, the Assistant Trainer initially pleaded that he not be required to answer certain questions, implying that he could not be forthright because he was concerned about losing the trust of the players. The Assistant Trainer further claimed that Incognito was his friend and asserted that Incognito had never offended him. He told us that he could not recall if Incognito had called him a “Chinaman” or a “Jap,” and refused to answer the question whether Incognito had said anything about his girlfriend, saying that the inquiry made him “very uncomfortable.”

Wells added: “We did not find the Assistant Trainer’s denials believable” because hours after Martin left the team on October 28, the Assistant Trainer sent him a text message indicating that he had indeed been personally offended by the insults directed at him by Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey: “Hey JM I understand how [y]ou feel man… They are relentless sometime…. Some day I wanna do exactly what you did today.”

Wells said: “The ceaseless racial ridicule directed at the Assistant Trainer was appalling and plainly over the line in any workplace.”
