Fins vs the Pats in 94... Awesome game!!!

That's mine. Marino had returned after his torn achilles in 1993 and had a dreadful preseason which actually left me doubting him. Then he came out and threw for 473 yards and 5 TD's in an old fashion shoot out with a very young Drew Bledsoe. Both defenses, especially ours as I can remeber a play where 2 of our defensive backs ran into each other, were dreadful on that day. We had a guy by the name of Chuck Bullough starting in place of an injured John Offerdahl and Ben Coates made him look silly. So Silly Bullough never started again as in week 2 Bryan Cox was moved to MLB.

I have a few favorites.

The '85 Bears game when we protected the undefeated season.

The "Fake Spike" Game. (my favorite single Marino play)

The 1994 Season Opener against New England. Dan was coming off of his achillies injury and everyone was starting to wonder if Dan was becoming brittle. Could the achillies hold up? Can Dan make it through a season?

...He threw for over 400 yards and 4 TD's in a roasting of the patsies.[/QUOTE]

Great game and as I said 5TD's.

Bar none, Chicago Bears OB 1985.. Best defense ever was made to look very silly.

Washington Redskins 1984 1st game of the season gets honorable mention since it started it all...

I'm never overly impressed by home efforts. A best ever should require overcoming some adversity and that means road or neutral site. And coming from behind at home doesn't cut it either, because you never should have been in that deficit to begin with.

I would pick the Washington opener in '84 and the Ram OT game in '86. Both of those teams were thought of as Super Bowl contenders. If I remember correctly the Rams were something like 9-4 or 10-4 and we were a sizeable underdog. That was an era of NFC dominance so beating a top caliber NFC team on the road is much more impressive to me than anything at home vs. AFC mush.

For lasting significance, obviously the Bears game in '85 stands out.

The Rams game in 1986 was amazing. A come from behind win in overtime, on the road to deny LA the NFC West. 5 TD's by Marino, including the game winning 20-yarder to Duper for a 37-31 win.

Dolphins vs Redskins when Marino threw 5 TD's and over 500 yds it was a season opener in D.C when they where still playing at RFK

It was'nt 500 yards...he had a great day and I can't find my S.I. article (the issue has Mark Clayton on the cover) but I do know it was'nt over 500 yards...I think it was around 400.
