Active Roster
Just heard from a league source that NFL teams are salivating about the possibility that Matt Moore gets released by the Dolphins when it comes time to produce a 53-man roster. Problem is I don't see it happening considering 1. David Garrard's injury/health history. 2. The Dolphins haven't gone through an NFL season without NEEDING three quarterbacks in at least five years. 3. If Garrard is the starter then which veteran does the advance scout for him, preparing for next week's opponent?
IF an NFL teams wants Matt Moore they'll likely have to offer up a 6th RD pick for the career journeyman, who produced a 87.1 QB rating in 2011. I'm told the west coast offense is a bad fit for him (and I agree), but he'd excel in a pro style offense. And his price tag $2.75 million wouldn't scare anyone off. But having Moore on Miami's roster is a great break in case of emergency situation, even with Ryan Tannehill as the No. 2. His value could also rise IF another NFL team loses a starter
David Garrard is beating Matt Moore because he's CONSISTENTLY steady. His decisions come quick, the ball is gone fast, and it is thrown accurate. He makes great calls at the line because of his experience. He's been there, done that. You want a QB like that because he keeps you out of trouble. Question is, can he win games? Can he deliver the big plays? Moore can deliver the big plays, but he'll cost you at time. And this west coast offense doesn't fit his strengths. But he's still solid
The problem the Dolphins have is WHOEVER loses the starting quarterback job will immediate become the No. 3 guy because Ryan Tannehill has to be the No. 2, and he needs work.
