Martin to meet with Dolphins soon to discuss future with team

Just cut his ass already. If he stayed on the team it would just be a huge circus. He would also be a pariah in the lockerroom and he might just kill himself because of that. We don't need this drama continuing.

Paiah is the perfect word for him and if he comes back this team won't even win 8 games.

I would bet a serious amount of money with someone (so long as a contract is written and signed) that that will not happen.

Martin is discussing this right now because he wants to play elsewhere. FA is weeks away.

Suggesting as you did earlier that there is some clamouring market for Martin is ludricrous - guy was a turnstile and is mentally unstable

I honestly wonder why he would want to play football is if it is such a chore for him. Why subject yourself to that, which is why I still think that this guy is just a nutcase who wants to still get paid.

It is not beyond the realm of possibilities that J-mart could be given another opportunity in Miami?
New O-line teammates. Probable new O-line Coach. Greater scrutiny. I can see where it could happen.

I was thinking of this a couple months ago that they might bring him back. Ross may think it's a good opportunity show the NFL and others that Miami is capable of rehabilitating Martin and trying to right the whole ordeal. Like you said, with a shake up of the OL unit and staff it's not that hard to believe it could happen. It may also help alleviate any sanctions imposed on the Dolphins also. It's highly unlikely but not out of the realm of possibilities at this point.

I have no idea what you are saying.

I'm saying that the reason for the meeting isn't to "do everything possible to make Jon happy." The reason for the meeting is to salvage what they can and minimize their losses. It's very easy for us to sit here and want JM gone, but from a business aspect, he's a 2012 2nd round pick and you want to maximize what you can get for him.

I agree. IF Martin is mentally in a good place to play again and IF Miami can create a proper work environment that can help Martin succeed, I could see the two reconciling. One thing in the report that stuck out to me however was Martin's viewpoint of the city of Miami in general. He talked how people in Miami (paraphrasing) were annoying to him as if he had a hard time just fitting in to the Miami culture and lifestyle which has nothing to do with football. So for this reason he may want to play somewhere else no matter how Miami cleans things up. If this is the case then I hope we can trade him for something.

If he is at LT he will be happy, if he is at RT we will talk to his attorneys again. Should have just gave him the guaranteed money and let him walk at the beginning of all this. The more Ross and Co. have their hands on this situation the worse they are going to make it.

Regardless of all that has happened, Martin is currently the worst lineman on the roster right now and that includes a bunch of scrubs. As screwy as it sounds, this whole scandal has probably maintained some value for him in a trade. Had he continued to play and demonstrate his worthlessness, he may have just been cut.

Man, heres to hoping we could get something for the guy. Also, think about it this way, if he does indeed end up in San Fran it will be Bully Gate all over again:

invalid response. that sack is clearly tannehills fault.

Does the name Barrett Robinson ring a bell to anyone? Just what you need is a guy who first of all, can't block, second, cannot be counted on to be there. He can bug out and run home to Mama at anytime. You cannot stop other teams from trash talking, he might get all sensitive and walk off during a game. He is weak both physically, and worse mentally. Good Bye Baby Jon Jon. Front office people, coaches, and players, might say one thing in public, i will bet nobody, wants a guy like him on their team. He is a huge risk, with no reward, he can't block to save his life.

Now you know why that happened, he was bullied in the 5th grade.

Due to other circumstances, often which I have not too much advance notice on, I go to several games a year. However, if the team is blackmailed into signing him I will try my best to be at at least 6 with signs, megaphones or whatever I can get it starting what I'd term as non PC pejorative chants. (even if in the near seats, I think I'd be safe assuming he can't smuggle one of his guns into his uniform). **** that racist victimizer.

I too was struck by the comments about Miami. The depression can be easily treated with the right medication. However, he sounds like he needs some decent friends outside the O-line locker room and maybe a girlfriend. At the end of the day he needed to get in better physical shape to do a better job of blocking. If he can't do that, the rest is academic.
Also interesting to see the text of encouragement from the anonymous Defensive player immediately after the incident. That guy is one of the few to recognize what was happening and cared about Martin. I'd be very interested to find out who that Defensive player is. My hunch is that it's Nolan Carroll or Jared Odrick - both have the reputation of being top character guys.

I've only read part of the report, but from what I read, I think he would do well on another team, if he still wants to play football. Getting away from the shallow, southbeach culture and the O line bullying, I think, would strengthen him. I would welcome him back if that's what the coaches decided, but I'd rather not have him on the team because I don't think there's any guarantee he would be a good player, or wouldn't regress.

Any meetings with the Dolphins will be in an attempt to build trade value, his days in Miami are over. Pouncey likely isn't going anywhere and after all this those two can't work together. Plus the rest of the locker room would probably have a hard time accepting someone who quit on them mid season. finfan54 makes a good point about the 49ers being stocked with extra picks this year, I'm fact they have 11 total. They have:

1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7

I could see Harbaugh and the 49ers wanting to bring him in not only because he played for Jim in college, but as some sort of PR stunt that their locker room is great and accepting. We might be able to get a 7th or maybe even 6th round pick from them.
