Marty Schottenheimer is pretty much begging to be Phins coach

The one thing about schotty is you know he will put together a really good staff, we could keep the 3-4 defense, and we would be tough and disciplined
How do you know he could put together a good staff. This would be a joke.

explain how Martyball works now.

Jaws summed up Marty Ball nicely a few years ago during a telecast.

At the beginning of the week you develope a gameplan. You put together about 32 plays you would like to run.(About 25 of which are running plays) You practice those the first day(typically tuesday). A couple of days later, you fold the paper in half. By the time gameday comes around, you fold the paper again so that you have around 8 plays. You go out and execute those 8 plays flawlessly over and over for 60 minutes and dominate your opponent. Thats MARTY BALL!!!!!

He's a better candidate than Fisher.. Thats for sure.
With a handful of NFL teams still seeking a head coach, high-profile names are in short supply. Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden have chosen to remain in TV and Jeff Fisher decided Friday to join St. Louis.
But one familiar and successful coach - who has close ties to the confidant of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross - is looking for work: Marty Schottenheimer.
Schottenheimer coached the Kansas City Chiefs for a decade, and his boss for those 10 seasons was Carl Peterson, an advisor to Ross who tried to recruit Fisher to Miami.
Schottenheimer said Friday that he spoke with Peterson just last week about the possibility of resuming an NFL career that spanned 30 years. Schottenheimer also coached Cleveland, Washington and San Diego but has been out of the league since 2006.
"I told Carl I was going to make an effort to get back into the NFL, and left it at that," Schottenheimer said. "We haven't talked since. Notwithstanding the fact I'm 68, my energy level is very, very high, and I have the same drive and motivation I've always had.
"I think the Dolphins are a good football team," he added, "one that's got some players who have a chance to step up and make things happen in a positive way."
Schottenheimer, whose NFL record is 200-126-1, has interviewed with Tampa Bay for its coaching vacancy and is considered a leading candidate.
He was fired after a 14-2 season with San Diego in '06 because of the Chargers' post-season failures and his strained relationship with General Manager A.J. Smith. Schottenheimer admitted Friday that he thought he was done with coaching until the United Football League approached him early last year.

Given the connection to Peterson, you'd think this would be kind of a no-brainer at this point.

Im speaking about NFL teams. Did not know any nfl team wanted Ron paul lol. I do think fans have a misguided view that a young coach is better than an older coach.
As for Ron Paul I respect his grind and fire but he is a loon that will never get elected president

:bobdole:

Fox News has brainwashed you.

So now thats 2 proven head coaches that where not even giving a call... I had no problem with Fisher, but now Im starting to get nervous....

Marty might have been interested last week when it looked like there was a chance his old mate Peterson might be in charge, but very unlikely now. Can't see him or Billick playing ball with Ireland

I like Marty. I am worried about his age. Not that e can do the job, but how long would he last? I would like our next coach to be here for 20 years.

you wanna talk about a heartbreaker...hire marty...the guy never gets over the hump...probably still though the best name i've seen other than fisher...but more frustration on the way also with marty ball
