Maybe Ireland was right for asking Dez if his Mom was a prostitute?

hey JTC111, it doesn't bother me at all. the point of the post was that you want to see how someone reacts under pressure. just like the physical drills, there are mental ones.

Nope. Ireland was wrong and no hindsight will change that.
Hindsight does not change the fact that the question was extremely insensitive and rude.

Even for the NFL.
The fact is Ireland new the answer to the question before he asked it making it not only rude but totally unnecessary and bordering on spiteful.

how was he wrong?

He asked what his dad did, Bryant said he was a pimp. Then he asked what his mom did, Bryant said she worked for his dad? So your mom is a prostitute?

Not his fault Bryant led him to that Q.

Ireland blows. The guy has been here for over 5 years yet the o line is still questionable and we have no depth at corner. Better hope grimes and Carroll are ok, cause if we are forced to field Davis, its gonna be a tough road to the playoffs i don't care who we play.

Dez reminds me of a young Brandon Marshall...hopefully he gets it at some point like Marshall seems to now.

Really? So if I call your mother a prostitute you're gonna feel a whole lot better about it than if I call her a whore?

This is homerism run amok when we make excuses for Ireland's inappropriate and boorish behavior.

If it makes you feel better.

No homerism from me jtc. I could care less what happened in that room. Just stating there is a difference between a whore and a prostitute.

I don't think that was the point of Ireland's question at all. I think he just wanted to know if his mother was a prostitute and it's really none of his damn business and there's nothing at all appropriate about asking it. Let's stop making excuses.

Oh please. Any of you would give a testicle to have Dez in a Dolphins uniform. The guy is a beast and Ireland totally f'uped with that interview. He was out of line and maintains a terrible reputation across the league. It is harmful to this team that everyone thinks he's such as a-hole. God knows on the players we miss out on because they dont trust or dont want to play for a GM like that. He needs to go.

What's the difference?

whore

1whore
noun \ˈhȯr, ˈhu̇r\
Definition of WHORE
1
: a woman who engages in sexual acts for money : prostitute; also : a promiscuous or immoral woman

Knowing what I know now, I don't think I'd rather have Dez. He can be a beast, sure. But last week he had no numbers against the Bears in an important game and I will not let up on his antics on the sideline and in the locker room. we all know what a cancer Martin and Incognito were.

I will be politically correct and agree with those who say the question was insensitive and unnecessary. I will not use it to judge Ireland as a GM personnel guy

also, Bryant went to a PS4 release at a local walmart here in dallas and bought everyone in line a PS4.

The prostitute question has been blown way out of proportion. Not a good question to ask don't get me wrong, but players/coaches/scouts/gms have all said that during interviews you get some very weird questions and really offensive questions.

Jeff Ireland is hated by many because he has a similar attitude to Bill Parcells but doesn't have the success rate in the pros to back it up. He also has proven to have very poor people skills. It's not a good combo as a GM.

As for Dez, great talent but he's always been a bit of a loose cannon. But he's finally keeping himself out of trouble off the field (granted the Cowboys took extreme steps to ensure that).

No behavior issues should be a reason to ask Dez if his mom is a prostitute. I would have been ok with them picking him up...still wanted Earl Thomas that year.

You're partially correct; considering some of her criminality (but surely not all) was well-known, when he freely and seemingly with no embarrassment shared that his daddy was a pimp and his mommy worked for his daddy. While I can understand that Ireland believed that if Bryant was so voluntarily forthcoming about his scumbag dad, he'd be the same about his mom's questionable morals since he already acknowledged that she worked for a pimp. (Does a pimp have a corporate structure where she might have been the Comptroller ya think?), he really didn't need to state the obvious in hindsight, despite being led down that primrose path by Bryant himself.

Beyond that, Dez comes off as kind of a dim-wit who IMO was routinely gonna write Ireland's "inappropriateness" off to" just another day in the life" until incendiary yahoo blogger Michael Silver smelled self-aggrandizing headlines and decided to make a name for himself by widely-promoting Bryant's sordid personal life - essentially throwing him and his family under the bus by sensationalizing it. If not for Silver, few knew or would know going forward about Bryant's sordid family life (although needing a Jerry Jones hired babysitter might have caused some to delve deeper), yet Silver gets no condemnation for essentially tarring Bryant and possibly defining his anti-social behavior going forward. Go figure :idk:

From May 2010
It had previously been known that Angela Bryant was convicted for selling crack cocaine in 1997 and served 18 months in prison.

Lufkin, Texas, police records acquired by ESPN on Monday show that she also was arrested in April 2009 after she was caught selling crack cocaine to police informants. In August, she was found guilty of two felony counts for possession of a controlled substance and the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and she was sentenced to 10 years' probation.
