McIntosh and the O-line shakeup...

THAT is probably the biggest reason why DM is LT and VC is RT.

Yeah, that is true. But I am concerned that we may be sacrificing too much pass protection from Carey to D-Mac, in order to get that boost at RT.

Overall I'm very disappointed with McDougle's play prompting this move. At one point he looked like a real steal at RT and now his lapses in concentration have almost cost him his starting position.

Maybe this signifies a change in offensive philosophy. We have seen we are not going to have time to go down the field very often so we try to beef up the running game and play to our strengths. This is probably looking a little to deep into this, but I'm bored:)

I hope that McIntosh can step in and play just as well as Carey has played there so far. Still, if McIntosh plays this whole season at LT, I'd look for us to draft a new tackle next year.

Just wanted to let you all know that as of last week I am now representing Damion McIntosh. In regards to the recent shakeup in the starting lineup, I think it makes sense. While Vernon Carey has done a very nice job at left tackle up to this point, it's such a crucial position that coaches prefer to go with somebody experienced. D-Mac wasn't close to healthy last year and it showed in his performance. In case you haven't watched Damion closely this year, he's been incredible (and I'm not just saying that because I'm his agent). He's been a proven starting left tackle for years and that's why Miami and other teams wanted him so badly last offseason. I think Vernon will make the adjustment to the right side just fine and it will only take pressure off him and aid in his development in the long run.

yeah, sorry, but i have a hard time believing all of this because you prefaced it with "I am now representing Damion McIntosh". And then you go on to say he's been an "incredible [...] proven starting left tackle". :D

In his defense he is basically correct that D-Mac has done well during his play with the 2nd team OL. I just wouldn't go and imply that this move has anything to do with the comfort level with Carey at LT. Has more to do with McDougle's being in the dog house.

I dont want to insult Mr. Tessler or anything like that, and I do appreciate him coming in here and giving us answers. It's neat to have an agent on hand and all that, but I dont think he knows decisively whether or not this is a permanant move or not. They wouldnt have told McIntosh yet the starting job is his, nor would they phone up his agent and ask him.Saban has already said not to put too much stock into who practices where.

McIntosh was injured last season, true. But McIntosh does have injury problems, and has yet to make it through a full season healthy out of 4 seasons as a starter.

When he wasnt injured, he was a solid but unspectacular LT under Houck. When we brought him in, Wannstedt actually said he wanted him to play RT, but Wade Smith's injury problems had him switch.

I think McIntosh will probabaly earn a starting spot on the line, but I dont think it will be at LT.

I kinda like this move myself because I prefer experience over anything else....DMac has proven in San Diego that he can be a darn good LT when healthy. If D-Mac turns out to be OK, we could have a great offensive line with Carey at RT who will probably never get beat.

My new OL should look like this

LT -- DMAC
LG -- Jeno James
C -- Hadnot
RG -- Middleton (tractor)
RT -- V. Carey

I believe this is the best combination in my opinion to have instant success this year before a new draft.

I'll defer to Brett on this one, but I think that once you switch agents the standard 3 percent of your base salary also switches from old agent to new agent. Besides, I said Brett is doing a good job and that's key to note, because an agent's JOB is to look out for the best interests of his client at all times, right or wrong. Basically, his job is to be biased and convince everyone that Damion is the best thing since sliced bread. There's nothing wrong with that. Having read what Brett has had to see on the subject of being an agent I am convinced that he is a knowledgeable, professional, experienced, and successful NFL agent.

But he'll have to understand that when he comes out with something like this about a client of us, we assume he's biased because he's paid to be.

I took no offense to you, so please take no offense to me when I tell you that I couldn't care less what you think about Damion McIntosh or anything else for that matter. Your opinion is of no importance to me or any of my clients (unless you're also the general manager of an NFL team). If you think I hang out here because it "my job" or "in my client's best interests", you're wrong. The reason why I hang out here is because I enjoy it. Also, an agent's commission does NOT transfer when a player switches.

that makes sense to me.

You are 100% correct. I DON'T know how permanent this is. The coaches could change their minds tomorrow. However, if they decide to stick with this rotation and Damion and Vernon continue playing as well as they have, it could definitely benefit the team.

McIntosh SUCKS!!!!!!! until i see him stay healthy and consistent, i will say that. Vernon has been the best o-lineman of the pre-season, and it p****** me off that the coaches are going to take the best player and move him away from the most important position, its going to be a long season. Now i know D-MAc has talent, but if he can't show up for every game then he is useless, left tackle is not a position where you can play musical players, he needs to be comfortable and focused and out there every down of every game, that way the QB can become comfortable and can spend his five seconds searching for a WR rather then watchin his backside. D-Mac will be cut after this year, same with boston if he doesnt stay healthy.Too bad D-Mac cant play center.

That does make sense, but on the flip side of the coin, would you or would you not consider it a breach of ethics to come onto the board and say that Damion McIntosh is starting at left tackle by default because Stockar McDougle is in the dog house and we have no viable backup RT to take over for McDougle other than St. Clair, who is currently competing for the starting RG position.

You could care less what we think of your client, but that does not make you likely to tell the truth either.
