McIntosh and the O-line shakeup...

Interesting to see this kind of change so late. I was fine with Carey being at LT, but i am also fine with McIntosh at LT. Glad to see him at full healthy now, so hopefully he will show us that last year was just one bad year for him. I didn't know that McDoulge was doing so bad. Now we just got to see on who will be our starting C and RG. IMO, i think that Hadnot will take C and Middleton(when healthy) will take RG.

I thought Carey did ok--on importance of positions and I am P****d I would hve said in order of importance they were;

LT
CTR
RG
RT
LG

Hadnot has a lot to learn if he's going to play center. I just don't know if he can get the snaps he needs. He whiffed quite a few plays in his one game at center and since then McKinney is back without question of Hadnot going there again.

I for one, am happy Brett would take the time to post here.
I didn't find his post to be offensive at all.
This board is all about opinions and most of us couldn't care less what others think. I see no reason why things should be different for Brett.

BTW, I think CK is spot on in his assessment of this situation.

My take on the move is a little more simplistic than some of those offered. Saban indicated in his press conference that some O-linemen aren't with the program and are not implementing what they are being taught. To me, the move was made because...

1. McIntosh is healthy and apparently has been playing decent. Coach wants to move him up because he is familiar with his system and what he wants out of his linemen. With Carey, and now McIntosh we have at least two guys that are capable of executing the schemes they are being taught.

2. McIntosh's experience is only at LT, and Carey's is mostly at RT. Also thinking ahead, if McIntosh goes down, Carey has shown he can move to LT, and St. Clair or McDougle can play RT. Also as a bonus, Carey is a little heavier than McIntosh and may be the better run blocker of the two. Teams usually like to have their best run blockers on the strong side.

You can do the same with Left Tackle.

yeah if you have a leftie QB, just switch the 2 :shakeno:

You must be strong up the middle. QB's must be able to step up in the pocket and deliever the ball. Which is why C, RG, LG are more important than RT. A QB can get out of the way of a guy on the edge, especially one coming in his sight (not the blind side). If a QB has hands in his face all day and is unable to step up into the pocket, he's toast!

It is not rude as it is honest. If you followed the conversation you would notice that there was nothing rude in what he said.

I followed the conversation fine thank you.

Well, he was horrible last year so I don't feel too confident. I do understand that he was playing hurt, though, and that his stock was pretty high going into the offseason when Miami signed him. My gut tells me LT could be a problem area all year.

Sorry but with that logic they are all the same.

TE'S can help out both LT and RT
FB's can stay in middle to help out C,RG,LG

IMO

LT
C
RT
LG
RG

For a left handed QB that is the exact opposite.

If RT wasn't so important guys like John Tait wouldn't be getting paid a boatload of money. RT AND LT get paid more then G'S if I am not mistaken.

To me it is easier to help a running game out with extra blockers then it is to help out a passing game. Just my opinion.

:0wned:

Sums it up nicely, good post.
