Mckinnie would like to return with Dolphins

I wonder if he will still have the same desire once Tootsie's closes down after the impending prostitution sting...

Re-sign him all day at the right price. His experience and recognition out there is worth it for any young guys they may bring in or draft. Would be great depth.

I would hope the position could be served better by finding a longterm solution. He can still pass block, but his run blocking stinks out loud.

One year contract and find his replacement in the draft. Although the Martin thing did not play out well I like the idea of a rookie at RT learning the scheme's who eventually will be our left tackle of the future.
It going to be hard to fill all the holes with free agents and unless they go out and get Albert or another high priced guy McKinney is a veteran guy and a good stop gap at LT

I would definitely resign him.

He is a vet who's been around. He knows what winning a Super Bowl is like.

He could probably host the rookie symposium & tell stories to the rookies the whole time about what NOT to do. :chuckle:

Of course he wants to resign with all the strippers, and hookers the oline buys McKinney has died and gone to heaven in Miami.

He got beat a lot by pure speed, he's up there in age, but I'd keep him as depth or hell who knows may ever fail to land a true upgrade but he's a fallback option at least

So how about we resign him and put him on the right side and take Brandon Albert for the left?

I don't think he is a starter anymore but given that Miami will likely keep 9 O-line on the roster for next season he should certainly be maintained for depth.

veterans minimum what the hell anything else let him walk. Just don't have use him as our LT plan.
Personally I would rather spend that money on a guy who might be good. He is not really an asset except for possibly experience and there are a lot of guys in the league u could probably bring in that would actually make decent starters.

I like him, and love his knowledge and leadership but, not as a player who does not fit and would take up a roster spot from a younger developing guy like a Yeatman. I would hire him as an assistant OL coach in a heartbeat, not as a player. Those days are over.

Veterans minimun....he's still a decent back up. As a starter I'd like to get someone younger but a lot goes into it. It's not a easy as some people think. Not easy to start 4 new guys on that line. Then again this team is used to that. If we can just start 5 guys that care about playing football more than they do about drinking and trying to score with hookers then we'll have a much better o-line in 2014.

Ozzy rules!!

I say bring him back, the line really started to gel once we get got McKinnie

Too early to call. Try to sign a good LT like Monroe, Albert or Veldheer. If you cant, then you consider signing McKinnie. Regardless, we should look to draft a future LT guy in the draft. Either a first rounder like Lewan or Kouandijo, or someone like James Hurst who will be learning/injured as a rookie but has the talent to start at LT from day 1 of his 2nd season.

Let's face it, this will require 3 veteran starters at least, and 1 or 2 rookies mixed in. We know that all of our OL are gone or need upgrading with the exception of Pouncey, who has a couple of question marks over his head at the moment. I wouldn't rule out any OL options just yet.

Make our 1st round selection a LT and grab a couple more OL in rounds 2-4. Work on getting a solution at LT an then see what's the best option for the holes that remain after that. New OL coach and he should get to orchestrate the rebuild according to his criteria.
