McMike - Are you kidding me?

Is this guy still waiting for a big time contract? My guess is that he plays out his last year with the Phins and moves on because he has not shown he is worth big money. I'm not just listing the drop passes after being able to watch the last game finally but he got BLOWN over by a LB. Are you kidding? He got run over for a big sack on Frerotte. I know our Oline looks bad but they aren't getting much help from this guy. He was consistently pushed back when he stayed in to block. Add the drops and while I like his fire he is not proving to be a big time TE. Real disappointing to me. How can we be dominant up front when you have a center who gets pushed back almost every down and a TE would gets knocked on his backside half the time. That's 1/3 of the line that is pretty useless blocking. Add McDougal who was just painful to watch and I can see why there was one change and possibly more on the way. I know I may get ripped for this but IMO we need to give up the catching ability of McMike to get some much needed blocking. We have WR's and RB's that can make plays BUT if we don't get some blocking soon we may score less than last year. Now I understand why Lee is still around - cause compared to McMike he is a blocking machine.

Well there have been alot of tight ends that we had that could do one thing better than the other. Mc Michael generally has been the better at catching. And if I remember right I had thought I remember him saying he would like to get a better paying contract and would wait until he played out his contract to see what happens. Other than that I really haven't heard a whole lot about it except from certain people posting things like this.

of course he wants to get paid . Who wouldn't.

and your comment about TEs not needing to block is assinine. In many systems, blocking is more important than catching. we have plenty of talented WRs on this team... if i had to pick between blocking or catching TE, i'd pick blocking right now as we need it.

and to re-iterate for the millionth time, we are saying Randy isn't worth Tony G money, not "cut Randy" like you like to put it.

Hey, I got a brilliant idea, that would fit your prefernce, of wasting talent. Lets trade McMike straight up to Denver for Dwayne Carswell. Now, that should fit your brilliant gameplan beautifully. You want a blocker, Dwayne fits the bill. What? You dont like that idea? You want a TE that can block more then one that can catch, and make plays. Your so hyped up on getting the garbage QB more protection. Just because there are other TE in the NFL that block, dont mean jack. Thats because the TE's have too for other inept QB's. McMike is not a passing TE...the passing is usually done by the QB DUH!!! McMike is a catching TE dumbazz...and lately he can't even do that. He has off the field problems...has problems focusing and forgets how to make key blocks.

He wants to be paid like a top 3 TE...too bad because he's not going to get that money here.

The TE who get paid are the ones who can catch and block.

In this offensive scheme...a blocking TE is more valuable...of course we want one who could do both...J. Wiggins caught a lot of passes last season for the Vikes...so it is possible the one of our TE will end up catching some footballs here.

So you could follow McMike to the team he signs with in the offseason and cheer for them...because all you spew out of your cum sucking mouth is $hit...about the Fins...you're probably not even a FinFan...the stupidity coming out of your mouth really makes you sound like a Jets Fan.

I personally havent seen much from Randy last year or so far in preseason. I know he has the potential... i dont doubt that for a minute. The problem is, he isnt futhering that potential! His blocking schemes are horrendous... and i know we need a TE in the this system but i also believe Diamond SO FAR has shown the ability to do as much as Randy. Obviously i would want to wait the season out to see what Diamond is capable of but if a trade for a GOOD QB or O-Lineman came about for Randy, i wouldnt be opposed to taking that trade. Just my opinion.

O-Gun was diffrent. he was holding out. and it seemed as if he was willing to sit out for a while. so the fins traded him.

and the franchise tag comes after the contract has run out, it does not come in with 1 season left. AFTER his contract is over, and they want to get some value for the player, a team uses the franchise tag. but in my arguement was not about weather a team should use the tag, its weather a team should trade a player with 1 year left on his contract, when hes willing to play for that contract year.

it would be crazy to trade him.

traded for cap reasons last season. his trade allowed the fins to drop there cap below the limit, and got a pick for it. NOT because he was going to ask for a ton of money this season.

as a side note:
your team will see a BIG diffrence between surtain and madison this season. and you will be saying a 2nd rounder was nothing compared to what surtain did for your team. and how madison cant handle it. (but then again thats my opinion).

I hate to admit it...but I think you are right on with how much of a BIG difference we'll see between Surtain and Madison this season../and I think it will be for the worse not better.

I like McMike, hes a really good TE. He will come down to earth and sign a reasonable deal. He didnt help himself by beating up his wife either. Relax his contract isn't going to be a problem. Unless someone else wants to pony up Gonzalez money for him, which isnt happenin theres nothing to get worked up about.

A good QB or OL, I dont think is feasible. Most teams wont let them players see the light of day, for a trade. Randy is a great player. Problem is, we have nobody to toss in with Randy to even sniff a QB in a trade. And, then if we traded for a guy like McMahon, Ragone, or such, we would be getting ripped off. It's best to take it into the offseason, and tag him, and get picks for him. Thats the only way you are going to get fair value for Randy.

Actually he was traded THIS offseason right before the draft. And yes he WAS asking for ALOT of money and he deserved it. He was an all pro and earned that pay check. Surtain was one of the top 5 DB's in the game when healthy IMO. Thanks to Rick and Dave our cap situation couldn't afford him. I agree that we will miss Surtain BUT you can't keep everyone when they want big $$. We are rebuilding this year anyways so the timing worked out and we got a pretty good player in Roth in the 2nd who I think once he adjusts to the speed of the game will be tough. Seems you guys lost a couple of guys as well - Jennings. P Williams and Henry come to mind. What did you guys get for those 3?
