The Oakland Raiders fired Lane Kiffin on Tuesday just four games into his second season, bringing finality to a situation that had been simmering for eight months.

The only way I see that franchise getting better is if Al Davis gets his decrepit ol' self outta there. Davis is washed up and the game has passed him by. IMO Lane can be a good coach he just didn't have enough control of that team to make his mark. But just like Shanahan he'll go somewhere else and do just fine.
 
Al Davis couldn't even man up and do this face to face. Had to do it over the phone. Pathetic.
 
This has been in motion since January. Al Davis always wanted to fire him, why wait until the season has already started to do it? Who cares if he didn't want to pay Kiffin, just fire him and get it over with.

With that said, Kiffin should never have been fired. Way to early to know if he would have became a good head coach or not.

People always say Miami is being laughed at, or being called a "mess", however Oakland has to be the worst ran franchise not only in the NFL but in all of sports. They will never win anything or get a good head coach until Davis is gone.
 
So whats the deal with Davis saying he won't pay Kiffin? Is that legal?
 
Kiffen probably shouldn't have been hired seeing how he was only a co-offensive cordinator at USC, but he did a decent coaching job considering the talent level of the Raiders. Kiffen shouldn't have been fired either as he had some good schemes. Problem was he wanted HIS staff, but Al Davis wouldn't let Kiffen hire his guys, and wouldn't let Kiffen have input on the defense.

Kiffen will get a job quickly. Whether it's OC with a pro team, or being a HC in college (his name is the hot topic for both Washington and Syracuse). In a way, I bet you that Kiffen is happy he's no longer in Oakland

The Raiders will never be competitive as long as Al Davis is alive.

While you're at it why don't you just say At least we're not the Rams? Geez, Kiffin was a douche and this is the wrong forum for Raiders junk dude.
 
Al Davis is such a douchebag, and so is the entire Raiders organization. They dish out money to bums, and expect to compete. Then they fire thier Head coach in the beginning of the season, which will only hurt Russells development.

GO DOLPHINS!
 
I think the 76 yard field goal attempt was the nail in the proverbial coffin.

well actually saying kiffin was a douche is kind of like saying Kermit the frog was a douche In reality Kermit was just a piece of cloth cut up and pasted together to look like a living, breathing creature

When in reality Kiffen like Kermit was nothing more than a puppet and its really hard to blame a puppet for anything.

The sad thing is no real coach will take the raiders job. Its a career killer.
