Merged 5x:HOLY CRAP did you see that catch by LEE

Like somebody else mentioned, this is hardly a shock. The guys who always drop balls are the ones who come up with amazing clutch types of catches every now and then. Look at Thompson against the Patriots last year as another example.
 
I can say that I was one of the few that did not necessarily agree with his being cut. I like Lorenzo Diamond but he's a p!ss poor blocker, and Lee is really a perfect weapon in how he's the number one tight end at completely surprising a defense by making a tough catch like that and easily getting open even though he's supposedly a blocking expert.
 
Not really amazing... just amazing for Donald Lee.
 
I disagree, as far as tight end catches go, that was pretty good to hold on despite that hit. It was a HARD hit.

yeah it was good.....but.....that's it. why in the world have so many threads started over one catch?
 
Perhaps... but it's the sort of catch you expect someone like McMike to make... it's only really "amazing" because Lee did it. Otherwise, it'd just be a pretty good catch by McMike.
 
I would not expect McMichael to make that play more than 1 time out of 2, and only that much because I know he is pro bowl caliber. Lee is a guy who couldn't even make 3rd team and he just made the pro bowl caliber play that you wouldn't expect pro bowl caliber TEs to come down with every time.

let's see him do it more than once in his career before calling it great
 
This game is turning out to be pretty good. The real heatbreaking thing here is if this were Miami's D, then yeah totally I expect a 3 and out and the Phins to get the ball back with time enough on the clock to kick the FG.

But this is Green Bay's D and I give them a 1 in 5 shot at best of forcing a 3 and out in this situation. So sad.

If he never does it again that doesn't diminish the fact that it was a great catch.
 
Seriously... football players (even receivers) get hit. I see at least one of those catches every week. Guy catches ball... guy gets decked... guy hangs on to ball. I've seen McMike make at least two of those so far this year. A scrub like Lee makes a catch like this and people are surprised. Why's that? Cause he couldn't make 3rd string on our roster. Mediocre player making a decent catch gets oodles of praise because well... he's mediocre and isn't supposed to do that stuff.

I saw nothing more than "good catch" on the plays that McMike made.
 
Wow. The Panthers just pulled a Wanny. The play-calling was awful. It was much more important to get a first down than to run both times to run out the clock. Get the first down, you WIN. That simple. You've had an effective offense against their D all day. You go away from it to run out clock knowing they have enough time outs to get you.
