Merged 6X: News from Nat Moore on 790/St Clair released/Berger signed.

Jason Glenn had never been cut. Far as I know the report that Glenn will be put back on the roster to replace Eckel is false. Joe Berger is an offensive tackle drafted out of Michigan Tech this year in the 6th round by the Carolina Panthers. I'm guessing they stuffed him on the practice squad, we made an offer of an active roster spot, and the Panthers didn't have the space on the roster to keep him so he came to us.

It's like another draft pick for us, we probably had our eye on him along with Alabi.

They will swallow the bonus this year. So the move only saves us about 800k cause I believe the total signing bonus was like 600k.
 
I believe we just saved $1.4 million releasing St. Clair. Although he will count $300k of dead cap next year. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Maybe Glenn was the guy released to make room for Thompson, but I had not heard one word of Glenn's release and neither had the people who do the official rosters at Yahoo Sports. Glad to know he's back, if he was gone.

I wouldn't say good. He held the fort and played average.
 
Thats the guy we just signed to the roster, and who we released st. Clair for.

i need more proof than that link.
 
It's also possible we're releasing him for the week 1 deadline -- so we don't need to guarentee his salary for the season, but hope to bring him back after game one if necessary.

Anyone know anything about Burger?
