Merged 6X: News from Nat Moore on 790/St Clair released/Berger signed.

Jason Glenn was never released, whoever came up with that is just pulling stuff out of their rear. Thomas was signed, taking the place of Eckel on the 53 man roster since he was called to duty. St. Clair was cut and replaced by Berger. Glenn was nowhere involved. This really isn't that complicated people.

We dont really know that for sure, now do we.

Could the Fins have claimed Eckel KNOWING he would be called to duty, getting a roster exemption, giving us the opportunity to own his rights AND sign Thomas?

That is a possibility. Besides, wouldn't Glenn have had to pass through waivers (I believe that takes at least 48 hours) before we could resign him?

that's what I guess..and thats a smart move

In any case, I think the shock of St. Clair being cut has made us overlook something.. I was really looking forward to seeing Eckel, so Im disappointed he wont be on the field on Sunday. I admire what he does and respect him and wish him all the best. Does wishing he wasnt called to duty so I could see him confuse the Browncos D-line make me selfish or shallow? :(

No No No, You are all wrong. What happened was we released Chambers, Seau and Spragan who we replaced with Randy Moss, Peyton Manning and Kiwaukee Thomas. Then, we traded Manning back to Indy for a draft pick and then used that draft pick to package with Randy Moss to Oakland for some extra footballs and Joe Berger, who they secretly signed. Eckel was called up to split some wigs so we then signed Jason Glenn, wo we released, to a 300 year contract that had a 50 billion dollar salary on the last year but league minimum for the first 299 years. We then used the extra money from dropping Manning's contract to resign Chambers, Seau and Spragan but had to release someone for hsi spot, hence St. Clair has been cut.

See? It isn't that difficult if you think about it.

Not to be side tracked here but how can you have a crack head as your sig? Ever hear this guy try and talk - no way he made it pass the 3rd grade. I'm bringing it up only because Eckel has been mentioned in this thread and has been called up to duty which is as honorable a thing as we have nowadays and then to see a picture of a thug drug head just made me sick.

I'm hoping this is where all these high priced coaches we brought in pays off - all the talent evaluation from camp hopefully is going into these decisions and I'm sure these guys we are bringing in have been scouted for awhile and will be an upgrade. Good teams have good top 25 guys - great teams have good bottom 25 guys - isn't that what Saban said? This year is about weeding out the talent and reloading.

But the signing of Thomas has not even been announced by the official website. We're just going on the Herald and the Sun-Sentinel. But official signings may not have taken place yet. So, I think he's right ... we release St. Clair, Eckels gets called, then we sign Berger and Thompson.

Neither has the signing of Berger/ cut of St. Clair

All the moves will come later tonight IMO (on the official site)
