TO will be playing in the NFL next year no doubt, despite everything he has done, I personally think he will still have a lot of suitors... the way they negotiate his contract will dramatically change but he be playing in the NFL next year, maybe as early as this year.

I just read in one of our local newspapers that the Dolphin players are "split"
on whether they would like Terrell Owens on their team. This leads me to
conclude that this guy would divide every locker room he ever enters. It's
amazing to me that this guy is such a cancer that he can split a locker room
on a team he doesn't even play for. Can you imagine what would happen to any team that picks him up? To me there is no argument; he is NOT worth the headache and ANY team that picks him up is intentionally looking to self-destruct and just want a scapegoat to pin it on because that's all Owens is right now. I read somewhere that he had a rough upbringing which would explain why he behaves this way, but N.F.L. franchise like the 49ers shouldn't
have to pay the price for it. I really don't have much simpathy for Philly because they knew the guy was a problem and signed him anyway, much like the Dolphins did with Ricky Williams.

Well that won't happen because even with his baggage, he is, right now, perhaps the best WR in the league. Your post says no team should pick him up, and then you go on to preface that on a 'player' poll....players don't make that decision...personnel guys along with the GM/HC do. If Saban could sign TO for the league minimum, he'd jump on that with all fours...

I dont know if many of you folks outside of the Delaware Valley of a sports figure named Ray Didinger. An extremely smart football man and a very under rated journalist when it comes to sports. He's been working at NFL Films for years and i dont know if there are many analysts that know more than this guy. Well getting to the point, i was listening to a show he had on radio, and of course being in Philadelphia they were talking Terrell Owens. Didinger said there was a very good chance Terrell Owens could end up in Dallas, however he said The Miami Dolphins are also a very large player in the Owens sweepsteaks. He said Miami was a team making a "stride to win", and that Nick Saban is a guy who doesn't "fold under public pressure". He'll do what he thinks can help the team, and doesn't care about dealing with guys with personality issues hence him bringing back Ricky Williams.

While i know menu of you dont want Owens here, it is interesting to look at the facts that Saban could very take a look at Owens. I personally wouldn't be oppossed to it, one of the better WR's in the NFL could really help this team progress quicker and i dont think Owens would go off the handle again. As i said Didinger is a smart guy, has great football knowledge and has been around the game for years. I respect his opinion very much and agree with him most of the time. I just found his take on the T.O situation very interesting, he made some great points....Also he's on the air saturday mornings until noonish on 610 WIP the Philly sports station (accessible on 610wip.com) if you wanted to check the guy out.

I just commented on another TO post that if Saban could sign him for the league minimum with incentives for good play he'd do it in a heartbeat. Even with the baggage, he's still the best or one of the best in the league...besides he would be a good stop-gap until Saban can catch the talent up behind him and CC via the draft.

Let's think for a second here. Are we a Pro Bowl WR away from a playoff spot even though we have Booker, Chambers, Welker and McMichael catching balls for us? No. So why even think of bringing Owens to the Dolphins?

yeah, it all depends on the contract.

If a team can cut TO without taking a cap hit, they'll jump to sign him.

Nah. There is a right team for TO. The media sucks. Never listen to them. TO is an odd person, but the media has twisted things around him. First, they made him an idol, and then they made him a scapegoat.

In SanFran, TO knew he was on a team that was going to go through a low period. He didn't want to go through that, so he went to Philly. Philly is the worst team in the NFL, IMO. They have the worse fans in the world. TO was not a good fit for Philly. They already have their superstar in McNabb.

My guess is that TO needs to go to a team that is already decent without any high profile superstars. Chicago is a good example. Also, for some odd reason, I think he would fit in Jacksonville. He should NOT go to a high profile team like Atlanta, Indy, NE, or Pitt either.

I agree the media wants to write that stuff. If an athlete gives them the starting lines they have a field day. Randy Moss or TO would be great on any team, yet they are called bad guys by the media, so was Ricky Williams. TO sure got him self ready for the Superbowl last year and a big reason they lost was their lack of use of him in the first half. Give me a break...why couldn't they make a big deal of is 100th anyway. I know his bad side as we all do. Do you mean to tell me that NOBODY can work with TO successfully. That is a huge statement. ANd it is not true.

If Saban wants him I will take him because the way contracts work you can do anything to either screw or please a player. I put full trust in Saban and a lot of the lockeroom was split when Saban was first talking about bringing Ricky back but they know the boss knows what is best so if he wants T.O the lockeroom will suck it up and take him in.

because Booker, Chambers, Welker and McMichael are mediocre recievers not big play recievers and we'll never have a GREAT offense with them?

T.O isn't going to get a 7 year deal and make 9 million a year, he knows that. He's going to have to go through a trial 1 year basis on a team, where he will be as GOOD as gold both on and off the field and then if the team looks to re-sign him after that to a longer deal then we'd see what happens. But who wouldn't want T.O for ONE year in Miami?

League minimum, Ha, never.

it wont be for the league minimum, but again i cant see it being much more than a 1 year deal worth a few million + incentives. Unless T.O proves he can be a team player there is no way he'll get a 7 year 49 mil deal again. So why not take the shot? For a premier reciever in the league?

Totally agree.

As for the TO thing, what ever happened to actions speak louder than words? Why are people so sensitive to what he says? He plays and practices his heart out, that should be the only thing that matters. Everyone on the team should dismiss every word out of his mouth. Remember how Jordon and the Bulls handled Rodman? Everytime Rodman did something crazy, Jordon would be like 'well thats just how dennis is, as long as he plays hard on the court, everything is ok' You need that sort of attitude to win with TO. Because, his ACTIONS are GOOD, his WORDS are bad. So the team shouldn't value what he says.

Agreed. He praised Bret Farve in what might be the beginning of the end of the road for Farve. How tragic. What would have been said if TO had said..."If Dan Marino was the Eagles QB they would have won the superbowl my now?"

T.O.'s a little b@#ch.... to those who are trying to make him sound like the victim, you are deluded.

T.O. signed a $49 million dollar contract in 2003 and then in 2004 tries to HOLD OUT for a bigger contract? you PLAY OUT THE CONTRACT, a-hole.... 7 mil a year not enough? he didn't even play the whole year and he is holding out? He was making more money than any receiver that put up similar numbers that year.

he has no class because he talks trash about his teammates to the media - don't give me any "the media victimizes him"... the media feeds off it, but he does it to himself. the media does not MAKE him say the things he does. he is a big baby and is a cancer. no amounts of wins or anything would make it worthwhile to have him on the team.... not unless he agreed to a frontal lobotomy when he signed the new contract, and it was incentive-laden against him talking to the media.

I personnally hope Philly can make him sit for the entire year but I think he will win the freedom battle. I laugh at his lost millions never to be recoupted, all because of his mouth.

T.O pretty much had no other option than sign the contract the Eagles gave him in 2004. He threatend to hold out in 2005 because he was scheduled to make just 3 million which doesn't rank him among the highest paid where he should be. Next year he would make 7 million with this current contract but the Eagles had no intention of keeping him past 2 years hence them offering him this type of deal. Both Owens and the Eagles knew this when the contract was signed but T.O figured if he played as great as he did he the Eagles would change their mind....he was wrong. So instead of negotiating behind close doors with the Birds he atttacked their franchise player in efforts to create attention and get a new deal. He went about it wrong but he was NOT totally wrong.....If you dont want an all-pro reciever on his best behavior for one year you're crazy.
