Where is the Quote from Saban?

Someone posted that Saban said that he had no interest in TO.

It is really simple. TO is an Eagle. No coach in the NFL will say that they want TO right now. That would go against everything a coach is trying to establish if they would undermine another coach or org. Fact is that if TO goes anywhere, wether it is GB,Hou,KC,NYJ,NE,Mia,Min,Buf,Atl,or any team other than Bal,SF or Phi, he is getting an incentive laden deal that includes conduct clauses for TO and escape routes for any taker. If TO goes anywhere, he now must realize that he is on his last leg and will be much better w/ controlling his mouth and emotions.

I would take TO if the price and contract(clause on him not speaking to the media or any negative talk to any teammate) were right. Cover TO or CC w/ 2. The other scores. Nice situation for Lienart wouldn't you say.(JK)

I'm just the type of person that values what people DO more than what they SAY.

You want to say a bunch of nonsense, go right ahead, but the second you dont do what you are supposed to, then we have a problem.

For a lot of people TO is 100% wrong in this because the national media has taken an anti-TO side. But if you look at the specifics, the Eagles also hold a good amount of blame here.

i like this post.

there is a lot of blame to go around in this, and yes, TO carries some of it. if you look at what he really did, however, there isn't much there aside from hurting someone's feelings. dr. Z had a piece in sports illustrated about how prevalent locker room fighting used to be. i don't think it needs to make a comeback, but it didn't used to be unheard of. the NFL teams used to deal with these things in-house. now it gets dealt with all over the televison. we do have media outlets who are trying to make 24 hours' worth of news in an area where there isn't that much happening. things like this get blown up. if we had no idea what TO said about donovan or who he got into a fight with, would you know it by watching his performance on the field?

TO is no saint, but there is a place for him in this league. i never understood why donovan didn't just fire back: "we'd be undefeated if i had steve smith at wide receiver" or something like that. yes, it's a childish war-of-words thing, but a lot of people are acting like the guy committed a crime or defiled the game.

T.O.'s a little b@#ch.... to those who are trying to make him sound like the victim, you are deluded.

T.O. signed a $49 million dollar contract in 2003 and then in 2004 tries to HOLD OUT for a bigger contract? you PLAY OUT THE CONTRACT, a-hole.... 7 mil a year not enough? he didn't even play the whole year and he is holding out? He was making more money than any receiver that put up similar numbers that year.

he has no class because he talks trash about his teammates to the media - don't give me any "the media victimizes him"... the media feeds off it, but he does it to himself. the media does not MAKE him say the things he does. he is a big baby and is a cancer. no amounts of wins or anything would make it worthwhile to have him on the team.... not unless he agreed to a frontal lobotomy when he signed the new contract, and it was incentive-laden against him talking to the media.

The Eagles didn't intend to honor the contract. TO figured out they had planned to get rid of him after this season. He wanted the contract restructed so he was sure they wouldn't dump him after this season.

TO basically got 12 million for the first two years with the Eagles after that he was due a big bonus that he and his agent believed the Eagles weren't going to give him. So he asked for a restructed contract.

Instead of hearing him and his agent out, the Eagles came out swinging. Someone in the eagles front office leaked out info that 'TO slept during meetings, and was late for a meeting' It went down hill from there, with TO saying 'I wasn't the one that got tired in the superbowl'

The rest Im sure we all know. But the Eagles played a part in this going downhill.

In fact, people believe that it was McNabb's failure to play for 60 minutes in the superbowl that bothered TO most. Not just the fact that when TO was hurt, the team said they didn't need him to win. Yet, they were more than happy to let him risk his career in order to help them win. I thought they could win it without him? what happened? McNabb couldn't run a no huddle offense at the end of the game because he was out of shape.

So, TO thought 'this team dis'd me, then the team leader was unable to play for 60 minutes in the biggest game of his life, so why am I (TO) giving up money (He did sign a contract that was beneath his worth, even the player union said so) when this team doesn't really want it bad enough?

That was the problem, TO lost faith in McNabb because McNabb said 'we can win without TO' and then McNabb failed to play for 60 minutes.

mike florio of profootballtalk.com wrote a nice piece about all the blame in this affair. ck posted a link to it a few days ago.

i think TO was really hurt after all the effort he gave to get ready for the super bowl. i think many teams would have given him some kind of reward right then. he risked his future and worked harder than anybody else preparing for that game. it had to hurt when they lost. some small measure of thanks from the team wouldn't have hurt them all that much, but the eagles are the last team that is going to pay anybody, anytime.

Put it this way....T.O not playing one more game this season is very LIKELY to STILL have better recieving statistics then Chris Chambers. If not it will be close. I find that a little pathetic.....

I just read in one of our local newspapers that the Dolphin players are "split"
on whether they would like Terrell Owens on their team. This leads me to
conclude that this guy would divide every locker room he ever enters. It's
amazing to me that this guy is such a cancer that he can split a locker room
on a team he doesn't even play for. Can you imagine what would happen to any team that picks him up? To me there is no argument; he is NOT worth the headache and ANY team that picks him up is intentionally looking to self-destruct and just want a scapegoat to pin it on because that's all Owens is right now. I read somewhere that he had a rough upbringing which would explain why he behaves this way, but N.F.L. franchise like the 49ers shouldn't
have to pay the price for it. I really don't have much simpathy for Philly because they knew the guy was a problem and signed him anyway, much like the Dolphins did with Ricky Williams.

why??? If I am 1 owner who's missing a WR to get to the big game I take him

IE maybe just maybe the pats would go after him just imagine that????

that would screw us so badly

if you dont have something nice to say dont say anything at all... and if you knew that it was a T.O thread skip over it or keep you damn mouth shut... its people like you that make us look bad... were not bills fans so lets be nice and support one another

That sounds nice, the clause would be a great idea. But, I think a guy like TO when he's unhappy would find other ways to destroy the team. Just general negativity around the locker room is bad for team chemistry. He'd still be a major risk no matter what the contract. A team would get used to him and lean on him and then he'd decide to not put forth his best effort because he feels he's not being paid enough, people aren't kissing his butt enough, etc. All of this would come after he got comfortable again but it is inevitable. His talent is great, every team knows that. Only the smart coaches will see the eventual cost and avoid him.

What in the blue hell does T.O. have to do with the Dolphins? And why support bringing cancer to our beloved franchise? Who do you think you are telling me what to do? Ignorant people like you and other T.O. supporters is what makes you look bad and gives people a reason to say your ignorant.

i think the mods should stop merging and simply delete.

there should be a sticky that explains in very simple and insulting terms how to post a new thread

Because there are ways to get T.O without him being a CANCER. Your the one blinded by the ignorance of being a stereotype when it comes to getting T.O, AND if Saban did take the chance and went after T.O, you'd change your tune and kiss Saban's @$$ loving every minute of it.
